Last week I tried to order a Nexus 4 via a VPN & YouShop.
The order went through, my bank (BNZ) put a hold on the funds until I would be charged. However I got an email on Saturday from Google saying they had canceled my order. These are the reasons:
Details provided for your credit card do not match those on-file with your financial institution.
The address information provided was incomplete and could not be verified.
To block an attempt to purchase more than the maximum allowable devices.
I assume it was due to the first reason. In Google Wallet, I have my CC added along with my NZ billing info, but if I try to pay for the Nexus 4 with my CC and my NZ billing info, it wont allow it UNTIL I make the purchase with the US address YouShop gives me as the billing info along with the US address as the shipping info. Because I'm using the US address as my billing info, it's not matching my billing info I have with BNZ (of course my NZ home address).
I went in to BNZ and asked if there was anything that can be done and the BNZ tellers were pretty vacant, telling me that the company I make the order through shouldn't see my address and make that connection, however I had to explain to them that whilst that may be true, YOU (BNZ) have an authentication process that checks if the billing info used at the time of purchase matches up with my billing info you have on file. Suffice to say they couldn't help me.
So, yesterday I re-made the order after figuring out I could change my mailing address connected to my CC by logging into my BNZ account. I've changed this to the US address YouShop gives me in hopes it will match up. I'll be changing this mailing address back to my NZ address once the order goes through. I don't have paper statements enabled so nothing will be sent to the US address other than the Nexus 4.
Has anyone else had this issue? If my order is canceled again, can anyone suggest anything? I was thinking about making a new Gmail account because my current account has previous purchases with my CC and my NZ billing info I've made with the Google Play Store (for Apps). I'm wondering if they're looking at that history and canceling the order.
I'm thinking that maybe BNZ has some super strict process when making purchases.
It's not the first time my Visa has been rejected when making purchases online because it's an "NZ based Visa".
Might be time to move on and sign up with a different bank.
You sure they didnt cancel it because the bank blocked the transaction?? My bank ANZ blocked it, thought it was fraudulent, and only after I told them it was legit did the item ship
It's entirely possible. I should get some sort of email from Google either today or tomorrow if the purchase went through. At which point I'll ask BNZ if they are blocking it.
