Wade: If it arrives at around a $6~700 pricepoint it stands to represent fairly good value, the 5P is not designed to be a showstopper or flagship, that's the 6P's domain

I am thinking here in NZ (when it gets here) it will be $799 for 16gig and $899 or $950 for 32gig.

Counting for GST/Exchange rate

Plus  Kiwi tax..

mrtoken: I was also going to get the 5x but have been seeing the specs leak online for the last week was a bit disappointed. After the amazon leak and the size difference between the 5x, 6p etc I went and got a nexus 6 which currently is cheaper than the nexus 5x will be.

Currently only $799 for 32gig and 839 for 64gig (from store.google.com)

Got mine from PBtech for $750

Sure it's a big phone but it's one of the better nexus phones out now/soon.

For that price you can get far superior phones. Bit of modding here and there and you can remove the skin and bloatware you don't want and have a nexus like experience on far far superior hardware for the same or cheaper price.

You can, but the nexus range is still fastest at getting firmware out and devs releasing new rom's as they don't need to worry about drivers from OEM's etc.
Plus so easy to unlock/root and not have to worry about tripping off some DRM protection etc, both sony/samsung can be evil with that.  Example is with sony, if you unlock the bootloader it deletes your DRM keys and the camera, sound and display are affected.  Easy thing to do when you don't know how to back them up etc.

And there comes a time when you just want to buy a phone, not have to f around with it, and for it to just work as you want straight out of the box

The big appeal of the Nexus 5 in 2013 was that it was a phone that was (spec wise) at or above the level of all the big flagships, but at half the price.

Now it's still probably half the price, but in many ways way behind what the flagships are doing spec wise.

Yes assuming above pricing is for 32gb 6p, the difference is a lot more than the usd129 premium over 5x

Was that on the NZ store? Can't seem to find that list. Any idea how much the 32gb 5X will be?

They have taken it off the main page however it is still isted under "marshmallow" area.
It only has "from" so no pricing on the 5x 32gig

I would say add another $100

Jesus those prices put in inline with the Note 5 and iPhone 6s range. For a phone that's WAY behind in the specs/premium department they can f5Ck right off

damn, theyre way overpriced.    if the vodafone ultra had wireless charging I would upgrade to one of those.  so guess Im sticking with my nexus 5 for now.

The interesting this is that when the US$ goes down in relation to the rest of the world the prices in the US stay the same but when  it goes back up again  the prices there  still stay the same but the likes of us here get hit  with the extra pricing on everything...  I don't remember the price of the N6 go down in the play store when the NZ$ was up at around US 80 cents.. It was still about NZ$1100, it's only gone down recently to $799   when the new model was announced ..

Since no one seems to have mentioned this.

According to FCC filing the US models (4X and 6P) do not support 4G bands in NZ (that's band 3 and 28)
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/09/25/nexus-5x-hits-fcc-with-all-us-carrier-bands-including-verizon/

That's a huge deal breaker (there are less congestion on LTE so regardless of data caps it's worthwhile getting a 4G phone) Better wait for NZ release.

Seems steep pricing at first, but given the dollar tanking, maybe not. And at 32GB, it's $300 cheaper than the iphone 16GB variant ...
