Mine is in a FedEx van taking a ticky tour around Christchurch right now - anybody else here expecting their phone delivered in Christchurch today?

It's been an odd experience watching/participating in this thread. Can't say I have seen a thread like this for other phones I have owned, with various new buyers eagerly awaiting delivery...

Yes but it has a USB to micro USB cable so any pc will charge it. I havent attached my UK plug to the charger yet as I dont think it will come off once its connected and I think you will be able to get a Kiwi one at some stage.

In case anyone was wondering, the UK pin attachment does come off the charging unit, albeit with a bit of force :)

I believe the charger was meant to be interchangeable with different countries' pins which should be available in the near future.

Doesn't Australia have the same mains plug as us? might be able to get one from there.

I think I'll wait for 2Degrees to lauch 3G before I order mine, currently on XT and don't want to go back to Vodafone to use it.

Yes I think Australia does have the same plug as us.

I've got a universal adapter plug so I'm not too fussed.

When i received my unit i ordered the screen protector from HTC they stated in the invoice on back order hence not included. Any other similar protector i can use?

Hope they dont charge you for additional freight!

As previously stated just grab one off TradeMe and cut it to fit for now. I think you can even get them at stationery stores.

I haven't used one with any of my capacitive screened phones (i8910, HD2, Desire). I just keep them in a pocket with nothing else in in (ie no keys!) and they've all been fine. They are quite scratch resistant - check the youTube video of Eldar Murtazin rubbing scissors over the screen of his HD2!

.... oh bugger... just got email from clove saying next shipment of HTC Desire not expected til 30/4!!!

btw... I've got a Nokia N97 and was walking over rocks on beach with it in pocket when i slipped and got a big ulgy scratch on it!!

heya - i'm wondering if this would be feasible to convert my old miniUSB chargers from my htc vogue (okta) to microusb chargers that work for the Desire?

That looks like a good idea actually. I forgot to check what specs are on the new charger - will do that tomorrow since it's sitting on my desk at work. However, it should be somewhere around 200 mA or so - as long as they have the same input/output voltage and AC frequency (usually copes with a 50 - 60 Hz range).

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :o)
