So I've had a bit of time to play with my phone :D

More newbie questions:

1. I bought and installed LauncherPro but can't see it anywhere to be able to use to customise my phone. What am I doing wrong?

When I go to Manage Applications, I can see it's installed... but it's not available as a widget or app in any of the menus.

2. Any way to change the weather settings? It defaults to AccuWeather but I want to pull from somewhere more local.

3. Can I uninstall some of the pre-installed Samsung apps? I REALLY also want to un-install the hubs. They're useless to me.

4. Best way to get all the updates? i.e. as in the easiest trouble free version :)

Well well I picked up the Galaxy s2 earlier this morning and have had a wee play.
Takes a bit to get used to after using iPhones for several years.
Downloaded a few apps off the store.
Nimbus, skype, foursquare,seismic,geobeagle.
The playing continues

yeap exactly what it is, if you have an sd card installed it shows up seperately so you can copy stuff to where you want it.

edenLOL: Very nice!! Can't wait till I get mine from clove!
Where did you get the controller from? Is it just bluetooth? Could I connect up to 4?

From what I understand, you can't use a PS3 controller with it right?

No PS3 controller option I'm afraid, it may yet come - its doable in windows mobile 6.5 after all.

The controller is called a Phonejoy - check here: http://phonejoy.weebly.com/index.html

I have the gaming section of the SGSII review going up soon, check the Clove Blog for more details on gaming and external controls.

Asrafrate: So I've had a bit of time to play with my phone :D

More newbie questions:

When I go to Manage Applications, I can see it's installed... but it's not available as a widget or app in any of the menus.

If you hit the home key it will ask you what Launcher you want, select LauncherPro (if you already got that prompt and set another Launcher as the default to into Settings--> Applications--> Manage Applications-->click on the current launcher app and then select Clear Defaults, then hitting home will give you the prompt again about which app to use). Once LauncherPro is the selected Launcher hit the menu button on the homescreen and go into Preferences, its all there.

Asrafrate:3. Can I uninstall some of the pre-installed Samsung apps? I REALLY also want to un-install the hubs. They're useless to me.

If you're Rooted you can use Titanium Backup to do that (although safest thing is just to freeze them).

Asrafrate:4. Best way to get all the updates? i.e. as in the easiest trouble free version :)

Best way is to use Odin.

In addition to my above questions, I also want to create my own wallpapers.

Does anyone have a guide for the SII. Found lots for the S.

Edit: Thanks NZTech :D

Err.. and how do I freeze?

You need Root and Titanium Backup, app freezing is done from within TB (also uninstallation, if you wanted to do that - check XDA for some threads on which apps are safe to remove completely).

EDIT: http://www.meetup.com/Androids-In-Auckland/ may be worth attending tomorrow for keen people - I will have my Google I/O Tab with me, and also my SGSII, with MHL cable, and bluetooth keyboard/mouse/gamepad in tow...
