Have you considered the Windows phone 520? Still cheap and you can buy locally and get a guarantee.

Lack of front camera, 512mb ram and 480p screen fail the L520, The moto G is a world ahead specwise, the 625 is a closer comparison

Has anyone heard any more on local supply of the 16gb model?

I had a bit of hands on with a Moto G at a 2D store today, definitely a nice phone for the price point and stands out head and shoulders above its similarly priced peers.

Not sure what customization Motorola have put on the phone as the UI seems all very common and vanilla which is a big bonus in my opinion.

I'm looking for a phone for my 8yo but the 8gb capacity is holding me back, if the 16gb was available I wouldn't think twice (I'm not interested in parallel imported versions)..... dilemmas dilemmas.....

I was sceptical about the 8gb size, so I ended up ordering the 16gb one from Amazon US via youshop .

First hiccup, UPS delivered the phone from Kentucky to Portland, Maine.... but, it was supposed to go to Portland , Oregon.  Now, they have sent it back to Kentucky, and the status is that they have weather delays.

Oh well, will get here eventually I trust.

8gb not enough for an 8 year old?? How Times have changed so by the time by 2 year old is 8 I would have to look at a 64gb option at least

The same thing they do with an iPod touch, plus getting called up to come home when they've been out too long :)

It's to replace a gen4 ipod touch so more of a logical upgrade.

She would love a Nokia 625 if you can hook me up a deal - kids pov review maybe ? lol

brifly on your off topic.
The 520 is a great device; has a micro sd slot, about the same size as an idevice, and excellent value.
Wade, don't make the mistake of comparing hardware specs for devices with different OS's..... you can't. And the Moto G isn't a fair compare to 520 due to screen sizes etc.
Either are great choices for folk for whom it wont be their last device. Personally for my small people, I didnt spend more than I could, on a suitable device, because I knew I'd be buying another one sometime.

The 520 was my first thought but it lacks a front camera so no video skyping etc plus it's 512mb ram gives it a limited life in the world of wp8.

Another aspect to consider is the Moto G has unofficially been recognised as being fairly watertight which is a bonus
