nofam: Working here, but does require 3G to be enabled:

On Vodadone, with genuine VFNZ SGS, running custom rom as per my sig.

Thanks. Interesting, I have also used the jpy modem and had no luck.

Are you using the APN settings from here, or the ones sent out from vodafone via STK?

What MMS software are people using? I have been using Handcent, but have had the problem with the stock messaging app too.

Thanks everyone, this is all useful. And it will help at least two people here and maybe more.

I have stock MMS on my phone but use Handscent.  Your stock MMS does have the appropriate number right?   Not sure what it is for 2D.

Under Settings | Message Centre.  Mine is +6421600600.

As I say, I don't know what that number should be for 2D.

I use LauncherPro and hide the MMS app.  I don't need it for anything, and I've also disabled the notifications from the stock message app.

The message center number for 2degrees is apparently +64220227672...

I disabled the notifications from the stock app too, but don't hide it. Using launcherpro also.

It's strange. But when i find the solution or more clues I'll let everyone know. It seems that those of us with the problem are in the minority, but we aren't doing anything weird...

Anyway thanks for the info.

Oh, and incase I forgot to mention it to anyone here: the setup configuration 2degrees sends out if you use the Sim Tool Kit (STK) on the sgs is slightly wrong and will result in no internet over the cell network. But it'll pretend it's working and waste your time.

lokhor: Hey Brendan does MMS work on it?

Doesn't seem to be, no. I did get an error about the servioce being unavailable at the moment and try again later though, until I turned on mobile data as well.

This is a real pain in the arse. some people are having no trouble it seems, while others just cant get it working.

I am still waiting to hear from people with sgs's who have MMS working, what there config is, and what network.

mms is working on my phone using the default mms app on vodafone network and the config is same as teh provided here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=97&topicid=67440 on a doc rom with JPY modem

Yes, just tested and my MMS worked instantly.  Even though I'm connected wirelessly, it still showed the H symbol as working at the same time.

I've with Vodafone, my phone is from Optus Australia and my current rom details are in my signature.

My MMS is working too. i'm on 2D

Thanks. Very useful, what ROM are you running, including modem, and apn settings?

Process of elimination.

Bone stock VFNZ galaxy (not for long though Cool), with stock MMS app and APN as per geekzone. Needs to have data ON.

Yeah I'm definitely loving mine. Yesterday when I went to bed (after 11pm) my battery was still @ 67% which is pretty awesome for me considering with a stock battery I usually hit 30% by 6pm.

The day before that I had almost 5 hours screen usage and after 15 hours on I was still at 51%

I also find the kickstand incredibly useful

Hey guys I'm considering getting one of these through Eking, which I believe gets them in from Hong Kong, is there any downside to this? Just saves me 200 bucks. Planning on using it all around the world, but mostly NZ and Germany for the moment, but pretty sure that shouldn't be a problem.

Haven't done it before, but have no problem rooting and all that to get it going well.

Cheers!
