Hey guys, I have got a couple of them from the US, I put them for sale in the Offers and Wanted forum. I liked this phone over the Nexus 5, but I'm working on an Arduino project and I need NFC so I might get myself a Nexus 5 after all.

When buying this phone, make sure you get the Global GSM version! This is the version that supports 900 like 2degrees.

Wade:

If I get her a moto G i will work out someway to link that 50gb bonus to my Google account.

If you want the 50gb just sign in with your google account on the first time setup and start the google drive app and go through the setup menu.
Then you can reset the phone or remove your google account and sign in with her google account.

I am after getting 2 Moto G  16GB ones from Amazon, but I need the flip cases so I have to wait,
but how can it be done avoiding GST, ? order one phone one week and the next in 2 weeks..?

The Dual Sim version would nice to have but how does that affect Battery life.?

Thanks.

A family member of mine was looking at the Moto G in a 2degrees store on the weekend. They would have bought one, except we couldn't find a way to hide the icons showing the second sim status on the right hand side of the notification bar. Regardless of the second sim being enabled/disabled, the icons would always be there.

Annoying enough to be a deal breaker, as family member has no interest in using the phone with 2 sims and does not want such a constantly cluttered notification bar.

Does anyone know how to remove those? Or if they appear in a single-sim version of the phone?

I ordered a Moto G from JB-Hifi on Monday and it has arrived today. I am so happy with my purchase and am about to go down to telecom to get my sim changed to a micro sim.

My wife has the dual SIM version with only one SIM.  Battery lasts two days plus.  See has no problem with the second SIM icon at the top.   Maybe some people are too picky about these things..

Standard Bug lots of comments on Whirlpool forum but no fixes, may be you have to root the phone to get rid of it..

Try the xda forums

Not sure what the big deal is about the empty SIM showing, its only $5 for a 2Deg card or try an old dead card to get rid of the notification.

Is there a Global Dual Sim 16gb version I can buy in NZ? I want the phone to still work when I travel so global version is a must. Dual sim just a nice extra, not needed if there isn't one available

Just managed to destroy my Lumia 520 so looking for a new phone asap :(

Look a few posts above yours if you can live with a single-SIM.

If you are using YouShop, they won't combine the two packages, even if they arrive at the same day but you can pay for both together. However, Customs will charge you for all the packages that arrives at the same time.

The solution is:

Order the phone for now before it sells out again! Then when the covers are back in stock order the other one.
