you guys use home button to exit apps or back button?
I find that using back button less lagging

muppet: With regard to touchwiz redraw issues, I spent some time debugging this.

The problem is system_server is leaking memory, it slowly grows in size from about 70mb on restart
to 240 odd mb. This means lots of apps are stuck in a state of restarting and touchwiz has to load most times its used. I currently work around it by restarting my phone every couple of days.

Apparently lots of people are reporting the issue and it's fixed in 4.1.2.

Hate to think how long it will be before we get 4.1.2. I only just got 4.1.1 from samsung.

The other advantage is less wear on the home button. The back button is capacitive, so won't experience wear.

Given that 4.1.2 allegedly fixes the Sudden Death eMMC issue, probably as quickly as the carriers approve it, to ensure the number of replacement mainboards is kept as low as possible.

In my opinion the S3 is turning out to be quite the lemon.

Using back button to exit apps, yes. But not always wanting to exit, might want to minimise browser to get details from another app then using home button. Redraw issues with both buttons.

Agree with Muppets comment re the s3 being lemon. I bought 2 of these devices expecting them to run better than the s2 only to find performance worse than the s2. Huge buyers remorse here.

Well I'm still happy with my S3. It's the 32GB model so appears to be immune to the sudden death issue. Also runs fast as.

Having said that though, if I was buying a new phone right now, I'd just buy an S2 and run SuperNexus on it.

MurrayM: Does SanDisk Memory Zone backup just apps or does it include any databases that apps may have created and use? Getting the apps restored isn't too hard (it might be slow to restore from the Play Store but at least it works), but what about the apps' data? I.e. i use the Countdown app for my grocery shopping and I'd like to backup my shopping lists so if I had to restore I wouldn't have to re-enter them all again.

I had a play with SanDisk Memory Zone and it appears to back up the app as an apk. I'm not sure if this means it backs up apps that have been purchased, leading them to be able to be installed on another devices which don't have the app purchased.

It appears to only take the app and not any associated data.

Seems pretty slow to process the backups though - my 600 mb of apps will take about 10 hours to backup!

try click free app, it's no different from SanDisk but definitely faster. this morning I backed up around 1Gb in less than 1 hour.
if am not mistaken you must root to get app data as well

Is it just me or has this thread suddenly (excuse the pun) turned into doom and gloom with the sudden death issue? If it happens it'll certainly be fixed under warranty or you'll be fine with (from the looks of it) an update on 4.1.2.

My S3 still runs very quick, far better than my S2 ever did, and that was an excellent performer as well.

Thanks for that - can you provide a link to that app, is it called "Click Free" or just "Click"?
