I have one in each of the cars. Tap it when we get in the car and the wifi is turned off and bluetooth is turned on and it connects to the head unit of the car. Tap it again when we get home and it toggles the other way. I have one on my ID at work which switches the SIII to flight mode on a tap. You can also put them by your bed for 8 hours of silence... The list is endless.

The only hassle is that NFC is disabled when the screen is off and the device is locked. There are ways around it for the SIII here:

Cheers, Matt.

I have contacted Samsung PR about the SDS issue and this is the reply:

“Customers experiencing issues with their Samsung Galaxy S3 device should check to see whether they are running the latest version of software – Jelly Bean 4.1.2. The easiest way for customers to ensure their device’s software remains up-to-date is to go into ‘settings’ and select ‘auto updates’ under software. If the issue remains we recommend the customer take the device back to the retailer they originally purchased it from, or that they call our Customer Service Centre on 0800 726 786.”

[Edit: changed Jelly Bean 4.2 to Jelly Bean 4.1.2]

Wow! 4.2 is out for the S3. That would make a good news flash.... ;-)

Perhaps you could clarify with Samsung that they mean 4.1.2....

I dont think any of the telcos here have released 4.2 here so I suppose that would mean that at 4.1.2 our phones are still at risk of the SDS issue..?

Hmm, I deferred it till getting home to wifi (nearly through my plan's data allowance), and now it's saying I'm up to date.
