Sheagae:

Went into store. They confirmed there is 2 year warranty from date of purchase. The store staff advised there is currently a wait on Huawei parts.

Have they tried to claim a warranty for you?

I was initially also told by a staff it is 2 year warranty.

But when she tried to claim the warranty and enter into the system, their system wouldn't allow that, and then they checked with some other staff and end up confirmed it is a 1 year only for the phone that were bought at launch date.

I later on got confirmed again by Huawei directly too.

It would be really good if you can claim the warranty as I have a dead 6P on my desk now :(

No I didn't follow through just yet, planned to take it in next week.

They were very adamant it would be covered and recognised its because of the bootlooping and degraded batteries. I'll let you know how I get on next week.

Took mine to the Pukekohe Branch. Confirmed it was a two year warranty.

The fonefix booking system did return an out of warranty message but a phone call confirmed it was covered.

Thanks!! And I took my 6P back to the 2degrees shop, asked them to call FoneFix and now my 6P is on the way to be fixed Yay!!!

Now if only they did that 2 weeks ago and I didn't have to buy a new phone! yell

I think even with a one year warranty you'd be entitled to a fix under the consumer guarantees act - especially given the nature of the battery and bootloop issues. Unfortunately I got mine second hand so I imagine the warranty isn't transferable.

Has anyone had the issue of the phone shutting down randomly on low battery? Had this happen 3 times in the last week, when it went to about 17% battery. Other times it goes past 17% as normal.

(Issue described at XDA: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/nexus-6p-randomly-shutting-50-youre-t3522911)

It did shut down once before around 50% back in January, while outside in -15 degrees C in the US. But this is the first time it is happening at normal temperatures.

Other notes:

  • Accubattery says the battery health is at 79%.
  • Running 7.1.2 on the Android Beta program.
  • Bought it in December 2015, from Noel Leeming.

Just got my repaired 6P back today.

I took it back to Noel Leeming on Monday. They sent it to FoneFix, who changed the battery and display under warranty.

Fingers crossed that the battery issue is fixed for good.

Why did they have to replace the screen as well?
And you drop it off to the shop on Monday and already got it back? That was fast. I sent my one back and it's still not back after two weeks

The summary said the fault was with the battery, so I maybe they had to replace the display while accessing the battery?

I'm in Christchurch, so maybe it's quicker here.

Had shutdown and battery issues. Emailed Huawei and got some BS response about 3rd party chargers. Decided to go straight to fonefix. Literally no questions asked other than proof of purchase (2 degrees email receipts). They replaced the digitiser and everything attached to it.

Repair took 3 days.

You think it'd just be cheaper to give me a new phone.

Has anybody else had issues with loose USB-C fitting? Only 1 out of 3 of my USB-C cables consistently charges my phone, the other two I have to unplug/plug several times to get it to detect that a cable has been plugged in. This includes the cable supplied with the phone. The cable I have that does work well is an Anker-branded cable that is near new, and the cables that don't work charge my partner's 5X without issue.

Haven't had that issue, but I have had a couple of hick ups when the phone appears to be charging, than not....cycling like that every second or so. A restart seems to fix it, some sort of software bug I think.

I have had issues with a belkin usb-c to usb-c cable that would wiggle far more in the socket than the stock one and be incredibly finicky about being in the right location for charging. I have 2 amazon basics ones that work just as well as the stock one.

My worry is that my battery might fail just after the 2 year period. What then?
