According to forum users in this thread: Clove - 2 years (return to uk - unsure if postage covered or not)

Mobicity site states 1 years (auck repair return postage included).

people have a lot of experience from both, check this forum (mostly for clove) and gpforums (mostly for mobicity AU/NZ stores)

I'd go with Clove - Tried and true on this website, and my phone arrived in 6 days using Royal Mail.. No GST. Top notch service!

Yeah, I went and looked over on the whirlpool forums and they seem to have a fairly onto it support person there.

Although they do seem to be getting a few complaints they seem to be fixing them quickly.

Clove = NZ$849 including shipping, (8gb version)

Mobicity = NZ$ 854.95 including shipping. (without discount voucher/8gb version)

More people trust Clove and it is more established?

Hate decisions, thanks for everyones help.

Three things which are putting me off buying a galaxy S are the warranty,Wi-Fi connection problems and the lack of support from samsung to update there phones.

With the Warranty I dont really want to send my phone off to another country and wait a few weeks - im 99.9% sure there would be nothing wrong with it out of the box - but there is always a small chance phones have something wrong with them. (Although every phone I have owned has had no problems)

I have read the last few days about some Galaxy S's dropping in and out of Wi-Fi even when being close to the router. Also ive read more people saying that Samsung promises to update there phones, but never does.

The Wi-Fi problem would be a big one for me - as would the lack of updates.

Does anybody have any experience with the Wi-Fi. Noticed any issues? Also what do you think about the lack of updates from Samsung? Do you agree or no?

seriously: No mention on warranty on either Clove or Mobicity, I had read the thread and I have seen the questions but no one answered them.

I was confirming that Mobicity would pay back import tax etc since I had read it earlier (including their email reply). I asked because I am still making my mind up on which source to go with.

In either case I will get the 8gb version from either Clove or Mobicity if/when I get it.

Email from Clove regarding warranty:

"Hello sir, the warranty is 24 months limited international. In the unlikely event that your device would need servicing in this time, contact your local Samsung service centre. It is possible that they may refuse an out of territory device (the serial number would denote origin country of UK), in this case the device would need to be returned to us for forwarding to Samsung UK"

The warranty is a fair issue. If you buy overseas, you can't hope to get it serviced here in New Zealand. But that's the price you pay to want something that isn't sold officially in New Zealand.

Never had a problem with the wifis. On the original out of the box rom.

As for the lack of updates, there's been leaked roms every week or two, and FroYo's confirmed for the end of September. Not bad for a phone that only came out a month ago.

So it's either that or a Desire. I know which one I'd rather pick.

Samsung are actively preparing a Froyo (Android 2.2) update as we speak. There have been several releases of the update to date, so the Samsung support is looking great. Two Froyo updates were (unofficially) released for testing last week.
