bradstewart: Ok from what I can tell the hardware supports LTE but is disabled in radio.

OK, another question. If the Telecom version is 4G compatible... Will I be able to use my Vodafone sim and the 4G turns on????
As per this thread you can see all the various LTE bands supported.

I'm honestly not too sure about the bands VF are going to be using. One of their reps who lurk here would be able to tell you that.

Hi guys. Just wondering, would I be able to buy the device outright with no contract from Télécom?

Thanks for confirming LTE guys!

When you take a look at your HTC One, is there a gap at the top of the phone that many people have reported as having? Apparently the first batch had the most issues.

Maybe not initially as they would want to make as much money as they can through plans.

However, I am sure you can pick one up from the likes of Noel Leeming, DSE etc outright. I - along with many others here - pre-ordered the One during NL's Easter sale for just $799!

Yes but the question is whether it would be available at these places on 7th of may or not. Probably not.

I am sure it will be. Go through other big box retailers. You won't get it outright at Telecom or Vodafone.

No issues here. Very solid feeling phone and well put together.

Can't wait to get one of these, it feels like I've been waiting forever. In saying that, reading reviews, comparisons and unboxing videos daily doesn't help speed up that time. Come on Tuesday morning!

Does the Telecom unit:

  • support all NZ carrier frequiencies? (e.g. can you use the telecom unit on vodafone/2degrees without restriction)?
  • support LTE on all NZ carriers? e.g. what are the frequencies it uses?
  • Tied to a contract or available outright?

I'm not too worried about LTE, but I'd like the option. Given how embarrassing the data caps are here in NZ, and the long time we can expect to wait for LTE in most areas, I don't think it's a big deal yet. However, nice to have the option like I said.

For those who have missed it, here is a link to an XDA post with a lot of useful links in it. I found the picture comparisons useful, but the clarity of sound recordings from the Mic blew me away.

When I enquired at my local Telecom store they said they would be happy to sell me the One outright. I am on pay monthly at the moment but they said it would be the same for PP. The only caveat was that there was likely to be limited stock, so preference would be given to existing Telecom customers.

the seller seems to be misinformed as well.. he says:
HTC ONE 64 GB - DEVELOPER EDITION. I BET YOU CANT GET THIS EDITION AS THEY ARE ONLY FEW RELEASED.

I checked on the HTC website this morning in the US and the developer edition was showing as in stock and available to order...If you use a US based IP address you can order.
