NZtechfreak: Anyone else pulled trigger on one of these?

Pre-ordered from Mobicity today, they anticipate stock of the black One tomorrow and also expect enough stock to cover present orders. Naturally I'm not holding my breath for it to arrive on that timeframe, since, well, major device releases never ever seem to go quite to time.

I look forward to your review of this handset when it arrives.
As well as your normal thorough assessment, would you also please comment on the following.

Does the new 'Blink View' home page that is the centrepiece of Sense 5 have any feeds that are relevant to NZ? Can it be turned off so that you have a traditional android homescreen? My guess is I will need to continue with a third party launcher such as Apex if I don't like HTC's version of live tiles.

Since there is no ability to expand the memory, I would like to know how much storage having Zoe enabled will chew through, and on a similar track whether the reduction in raw pixels (be they 'ultra-pixels') makes for a better result or not.

Does the TV blaster function have access to NZ EPGs? Once again, my guess is no. Is it programmable, i.e. universal remote style?

Disrespective:
dauckland: Ordered mine (silver) from Clove today.
Says won't be shipped before 15th, which is OK.
Chose Clove because of LTE bands (EU version includes 800MHz)

Damian
Does the Mobicity version only support LTE1800MHz? Or does it do the same as the clove version, minus the 800MHz?

Specs seem to suggest Mobicity's ONE is only missing the 800MHz
Preferred to get the full set.

Well I think i'm going to look at getting one of these in black. I don't see the need for all the 4G frequencies so will likely order from Mobicity I reckon.

The 4MP camera doesn't bother me at all (I've always been bugged about the stupidly high res cameras with tiny sensors) and i'd like to give an HTC device a shot more than trying the Sony Xperia Z.

Looks like Vodafone now has it up on their "coming soon" list, as well as Telecom.

Yeah was just about to post this. Interesting. Both probably have the GS4 as well...

Pulled the pin on one of these with Mobicity. Guess i'll wait and see if I get a first batch device or have to wait for the next shipment. In any case i'm looking forward to ditching the S3 on trademe to alleviate some of the worries I have around the SDS issue.

So the global delay is confirmed and it's anyones guess whether supply will allow for NZ pre-orders.

Hot on the heels of the delay announcement is another review. Whilst not exactly filled with the kind of information I want in a review, it's making me want it more at this point, even with the downsides.

Even my pre-order which was placed relatively early won't be filled, so the rumoured delay seems to be in effect. I will go shopping around and see whether I can pick it up from anywhere else in the interim.

Yeah, shame about the delay. Talk about a last-minute announcement!

Telecom has pushed back their launch to sometime in April as well from what I've heard.

That's a bugger. They could of really got a good 2-3(?) months jump on the GS4

That's what we've been discussing about over the last few posts. And yes, it is confirmed. That's why there's a delay now of around 2 weeks.

After the reveal of the S4, I am not overly wowed. Tempted to consider the One given it's superior build and premium looks.

God how I wish they would include removable battery.

Camera comparisons between the S4 and the HTC One.

The difference is night and day. HTC One's Ultrapixels really shows off here.

Link.
