antaeusa: Update:

Samsung came back saying : $314.20 to repair it as it's water damaged. Rang CGA..apparently it's a grey area..and unless I have purchased this from either VF/Telecom directly, there isn't much they can do. And if I can prove that this particular phone wasn't sealed correctly for a normal day-to-day wear and tear..there isn't much to go on.

best is to get a new phone ha.

Told you. New phone time.

Ha Ha not quite!! It still has a bit more life!! If you like at the previous picture..it may resurrect if I replace the charging port!

Doing a quick search on eBay : http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTHERBOARD-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-L710-16GB-Sprint-Working-Logic-Board-CLEAN-ESN-/151258072240?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2337af04b0

Can get a board for cheaper price.

antaeusa: Could do that, please check this : this that has the screen shot of it. I reckon if I replace the charging port it should work.

Your local dodgy phone repair shop should be able to do that for you.

If you can get the PCB to me in Wellington along with a replacement charging port I could swap it over for you.  I can't guarantee it will work though as there is other damage on the board.

Unfortunately the Micro USB ports I have do not have the same footprint as the one in the photo

There is liquid damage elsewhere on the board so a repair might work for a while however won't work forever. It is sort-of a band-aid solution. That is the problem with liquid damage.
