Yes. But no worries with them sorting it. Also you have to pay freight both ways.

Giggs: If I remember rightly from one of the early Desire threads, those who chose the Royal Mail delivery option when purchasing from Clove seemed to avoid GST more often that not while those who took the courier option all got hit for it.

Correct.

Edit. Also I dont think there was a lot of difference in delivery, 3 or 4 days.

I don't see royal mail on there - only airsure and DHL.

Is the airsure/royal mail signature delivery? Do want for something like this :)

Not really traceable...
Tracking tells you when it was picked up, when it went to airport and stops there.

euanandrews: Admitivley, video calling has never really taken off, as it requires both users to have 3G video calling enabled mobiles, and the mobile networks charge ridiculous amounts, hobbling its takeup, so its a moot point anyway.

I got everyone in the house 3G-capable phones that could do video-calling and we used it exactly two times. The three women in my family thought the video cameras weren't flattering enough and simply refused to use video-calling. Plus it was "too geeky". They prefer texting so they can be busy doing other things and respond in convenient moments. Video calling requires a commitment of attention and presence they found onerous.

Since then, 3G video calling hasn't even been on my list. No one who has it WANTS to use it.

Cost had nothing to do with it as video-calling in our Vodafone "Family" group is free and unlimited.

Me and my Ex used it all the time....use your imagination Wink

I am going to look @ clove, but i was intending on getting my HTC Desire HD from mobicity, nz warranty etc.

Was hoping for an XT compatible version tho. not sure i can ever expect it.

Should i hang out and see if one turns up or pre-order now? I've been saving for this since i was reluctant to get the desire after hearing about the HD.

I guess i could put up with 2degrees untill they fully roll out their broadband.

Greekiwi: What do you guys reckon the chances of the Desire Z being compatible with XT?

It supports 850, 900, 1900, and 2100 mhz frequencies, although it seems it doesn't do umts on 850mhz.

 http://www.htc.com/www/product/desirez/specification.html

If the specs stay as stated, does this mean I could chuck an XT sim card in it and still be alright for 3G data while I am in Wellington? I live in Wellington and hardly ever leave so it wouldn't be a huge problem.

Have spent the last few hours trawling the 50+ page desire thread getting a list of tips and tricks apps etc:

Just a copy and paste info dump of what I was interested in hopefully will save others doing the same when the Desire HD start to arrive

I vaguely remember NZtechfreak saying that you need to copy the file structure of the original card across to the new card somewhere before you use your

new card.robably worth also copying over the original cards files, including hidden and system files, just to be on the safe side (although I would

think the phone should add them all to new cards automatically anyways

You can set your schedule with that, I have Push on between 8am and 6pm, and then half hourly retrieval outside these hours.

If you go into Settings --> Accounts and Sync you can turn off the default Google Sync operation (which is by default set to 24/7 push) for

Mail/Calender/Contacts individually.

I'm on the $10 for 100mb per month add-on.

Co-pilot

http://www.ijackcap.com/buy.html

I have had on a couple of occasions instances where the phone can no longer "see" the microSD card, and previously nothing short of reinserting the card

and rebooting the phone fixed it. I thought it may be to do with having a 32GB card, but I see others reporting the same problem sporadically with cards

of varying capacities. An XDA a user gave this solution - get "SDMount" widget free from the Marketplace, unmount the card in settings, then just click

on the widget icon and your card is remounted. Worked for me today (second time I had this problem).

AppAware ch helps with finding items in the market in regards to popularity and who's installing/updating/removing. It doesn't replace the Market but

is a helpful addition (so far).

For HTC Desire Beam Widget is great, simple widget for turning the camera flash on/off for use as a flashlight.

NewsRoom - great RSS reader.

Andoku Sudoku is the best Sudoku clone I've found so far.

GameBoid is awesome, full speed with sound emulator for GBA.

NY Times/Guardian apps for offline reading of those papers.

Droidkoban - excellent Sukoban clone (best available for Android).

Fring/Nimbuzz - IM aggregators

Google Sky Map

LastFM (if you don't know about lastfm Google it now and start enjoying life more!)

Tunewiki - media player with timed lyrics database

Jewels - great free Bejewelled clone.

gStrings/Mobile Metronome - tuner and metronome apps for the musically inclined (now I have a metronome, all I need is to scrape together the motivation

to practice my scales!)

Shazam - free music ID program

Vignette - photo editor with lots of great effects (including some less known stuff like Tilt Shift photography, Google it, very cool)

GRemote Pro is nice, and as pretty as AirMouse.

Phantom Skinz http://phantomskinz.com/htcdesire.aspx

App called stats might be helpful to see how much data is used for wifi and network..
Grab 3G watchdog, keeps an eye on your data usage.

Note Everything for making quick notes either by text, paint or voice, and lyric search.

Google Sky Maps: Very cool and the kids love it.
Sundroid Free: Tells you the sun and moon rise and setting times for your location. Very good.

App Du Jour, Pocketcloud, it took me about 2 minutes to be able to remote control my PC from my phone via VNC. Fantastic.
