Just got an email from Clove in the UK

"It is not in stock quite yet, but we wanted to give you some important information which we hope you feel is useful.

At the time of registering your interest the price and availability were to be confirmed.

Firstly, the price was shown at 500 pounds + shipping + VAT (if applicable). This price was the most accurate estimation that we had at the time of listing the product, but we now subsequently have a revised and more accurate price. The new price for the Galaxy Note is 559 pounds + shipping + VAT (if applicable).

We would like to stress that this price is still subject to change, but it is the most accurate price to date of the final sale price. We understand that this revised price may be too expensive for you, but we will confirm the final price nearer the launch date.

Secondly, we do now have an expected release date of the 17th of November. This too is subject to change, but previously we expected it late November, therefore good news that it is coming sooner than expected and we have a more accurate release date.
We will contact you closer to the launch date when we will confirm the final sale price and the confirmed launch date and give you the opportunity to be one of the first to obtain this new device.

^ Thanks for the update. Yikes, the price is fairly hefty, and if you get charged GST on the way in, it becomes a little insane for a mobile phone, despite its sexiness!

Are the chances of being charged GST lower if you go with the slower Royal Mail service?

Good news! Just went over to Clove and I see they have updated their stock status from 17th of November to 1st of November!

And no doubt it will be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in due course?

"You requested to be notified when the Samsung Galaxy Note became available. It has not yet arrived into stock, but we do have some fantastic news that we wanted to make you aware of.

Despite some previous price rises, the final price has been confirmed at 495 pounds plus VAT (if applicable) per unit.

The other good news is that the first stock is expected on the 1st November, not the 17th as previously expected.
