Doesn't seem to be a big issue mostly but a quick google shows a workaround:
Go into Contacts -> [Menu] -> More -> Settings -> Own numbers -> [Menu] -> Create and type your phone number into the Number field, now Save. (don't enter a name into name field, just the number - it will save as "unknown")
Then switch your phone off and on again, and it should show the correct number (or whatever number you entered) in the status now.
Worked for me fine.

Thanks for that, yep sorked for me too. Thought that data might have come off the sim.

Hey guys...

Sorry if this has been done before but can anyone suggest what to buy in the way of a bigger SD card?
I have a 4gb SGS and ideally would like to stick a 32gb card into it.

As big as your wallet can afford really - but size isn't the only consideration, especially if you're going to store apps on the external SD card. Get a decent brand, and go for a higher class rating.

I think so - all the main players are much of a muchness - the trick is to stay away from shonky imports (as it is with most things!).

I have a quick question with your i9000 i noticed that its running JVP, im currently running darkeys JVQ 10.2
and having fairly high battery drain,

Thinking about going back to Doc roms with JVP being the newest, how are you finding It ?

I basically want a good stable rom. The main points im interested in are
- Speed
- Fairly low battery drain
- Working GPS
- Great voice clarity

Any Ideas ?

Anyone else encountered the issue where your XT phone only connects to 2100MHz towers?

I was running DarkyROM v10.2 XXJVQ and noticed the above issue. Looking in the service menu under Band Selection I discovered that WCDMA 850 wasn't checked, and couldn't be checked even if I pressed it.

I then swapped to the BVJW2 modem which allowed WCDMA 850 to be checked in Band Selection but I still have the problem of only ever connecting to 2100MHz towers. Normally I'm only travelling around Auckland so it was never a real issue but today out a Pukekohe I was completely out of service whilst my wife's XT phone had a full set of bars...

Anyone able to shed any light on what I've done wrong and, more importantly, what I can do to rectify the situation (short of going back to a stock XT ROM)?

I'm currently running Darky 10.2 FE with 2.9.3 darkcore kernal on i9000T (but using it with 2degrees)

Has anyone compared Dark Rom 10.2 vs Cyanogen 7.1RC1 ????
How do they compare, mostly in regards to battery life.

HTPC / Home automation (home assistant) enthusiast.

Whats the main use in your battery stats?

i can get just about 3 days off one charge with light internet usage through the day, id head to darkys and ask some questions, cause it doesnt sound right.

Darkys is Stable, none of those thing you want in your list refer to stability the GPS is just an SGS issue which can be fixed by updating to the best GPS.conf for our region (mine takes 15 seconds max to lock on w/clouds)

Stability to me refers to lockups/freezes/reboots and force closes and im yet to have any on 10.2

Thanks for that. Read a few posts on their forum and while they listed some fairly complex process to make 850 'stick' (flashing one modem, making some band changes, flashing another modem, making more changes, and then flashing the modem you actually want) I just tried a different modem (KC1 in this case) and I was straight on to 850 without having to make any further settings tweaks!

I'll see how KC1 goes re battery life, etc but the fact I've now got 850 connectivity makes me pretty happy.
