Seems like my signal issues are back again, after they got fixed last time by Telecom. Keep losing service, at least once a day. Phone usually needs to be rebooted, although I found a trick by going into the service menu using *#2263# and just changing bands until it comes back.

I am honestly sick and tired of this phone now. Been screwing up for me since day one. I think it may be time to move on.

Jump over to the HTC Sensation :) no signal issues here, way stronger signal than the SGS too.

surely the best upgrade would be to the SGSII?

EDIT: wait are you saying "SGS TWO" or "SGS, too"?

if you mean the Sensation has stronger signal than the SGSII, how did you test that out??

Try disabling all gsm and 3g frequencies except for 3g 900.

Just done the Froyo to Gingerbread upgrade using Darky v10.2 Resurrection installer. Simple upgrade.

I flashed the UGKG3 Modem across as well.

I noticed a few weeks ago that my phone was locking onto 2100 towers, so I used the 'secret' code to lock it onto the 850 band. Had to do this on this install as well.

A bit of a pain not being able to bring the data along with the apps when doing an upgrade..however the reliability of a clean up install is preferred.

Anything else to do now? Any Kernel upgrades or the like?

you can flash (prob wont make a big difference)

1. 10.2 final edition (i prob wouldnt bother if u reinstalled ur apps)
2. kernal update darkcore v2.9.3 (don't use 3.0 as this is for different core)

The GPS lock is insanely quick with UGKG3. Reception indoors is not a problem.

you can get the files from using Check Fus and then install them with Odin

Download the file then enter it into the "PDA" section in ODIN and flash to phone.

"No firmware info retrieved for given data."

Found GT-I9000HKTTNZ under GT-I9000T, flashed that but now says something about failing to mount /dbdata

Came from Darky 10.2.

Not sure whats going on, guess I'll go back to Darkys for now.

i have a 9000T that I have mistakenly I think upgraded to the JVB firmware. Now Swype does not work. Although everything else does well.

Can you tell me how to download the GT-I9000HKTTNZ package. I am having a great deal of trouble figuring out how you did it.

Well, Only goes to show I hould have followed the instructions to the letter
After clearing the old swype data it all now works great.

The Phone is an I9000T on Telecom NZ

now shows as Model GT-I9000
Firmware Version 2.3.3
Baseband Version I9000UGJL2
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7- I9000XWJVB - CL118186 Root@DELL102 #2

Build Number GINGERBREAD. XWJVB

it seems much more responsive but battery life does not appear to have got any better than with Eclair
Although I havent done ay full rundown to flat tests

can anyone tell me if I will get a benefit from the JVH firmware

FYI non branded Aussie sourced phones (XSA) official 2.3.3 is now out :)

I Applied it before shipping off to the sunshine coast last Monday.

nope - best battery life will be on 2.2.1 Froyo, which will improve again dramatically with a custom Kernel.
