Anyone else having trouble with the telecom firmware 2.3.3? Where the keyboard crashes? And goes all slow etc, then have to restart the phone.

I would go back to DarkysRom, but the bug in messaging really got to me :/ Where if you get a text back the same minute you sent it, it'll show it in the wrong order. Or anyone know a fix of this?

the latest 10.2.1 master version has apparently fixed this

lofreq: so how are all the original i9000 users these days. how many of you have still resisted the urge to upgrade to the wealth of new dualcore devices out there like the SGSII?

is anyone considering waiting to get the newer LTE equipped 4.5" samsung models that were recently announced for USA, or even the Samsung Galaxy Note just recently revealed at IFA?

and who is fuming at apples ongoing legal tantrums against samsungs amazing looking new tablets?

I'm still rolling with my I9000T on MIUI(Sometimes OC'd) which runs great most of the time, I don't really feel the need to upgrade now, might just wait another cycle. Though I am considering the "Miui Phone or M1" because I love Miui and its got good specs for an awesome price. The Note looks nice but I couldn't warrant it, to big for a phone and apparently it's gonna be pricey. Saw this other "KT Spider" phone on Engadget which looks interesting. But for now, Long Live SGS!

yeah ive come to the same conclusions as you - cant warrant upgrading right now despite all the temptation, you know new stuff is around the corner constantly... id also love the Note mainly for its 1280x800 rendering ability, i have no need for a stylus (could grow to learn tho) but then unsure of the size. i think 4.5" screen would be the max for a cellphone for daily use... i wish there was a higher pixel density handset for the 4"+ sizes, 800x480 is just not enough and still forces me to pan around to much...

also waiting for next gen LTE devices to come out because i believe telecoms next upgrade to their network will be the move to LTE. so im following america's development closely...

and of course ive been waiting for a 8.9 Tab since IFA in february but it seems the Apple legal machine is as invinicble as the iphone, and they are destroying samsung bit by bit - im kinda giving up hope of ever seeing it on these shores or anywhere on earth... all the 10" tabs are simply too big for what i deem usable - the 8.9 or 7.7 is perfect. but yeah Mr Steve Jobs tells me no i cannot have one. black glass rectangle with rounded edges was invented by Apple you see :/

so i too will just continue to crank the crap out of this SGS till it melts down i think, even OC it bogs down sometimes and runs out of RAM or stalls on multiple web pages being open.. but for the most part its still a great handset so might as well get me moneys worth out of it and try to make it last till the next gen of handsets are upon us! :D

That's mainly why I was so interested in that "KT Spider" phone I was yabbering about, 1200x800 screen and 4.5inch, that's insane pixel density. And it has a whole lot a cool docks(netbook, gaming and tablet), it's just whether it takes off or gets to New Zealand. You should have a look:

And if your having trouble with stalling etc you should try CM7(or a CM7 based rom), I've had no problems on Miui even at stock speeds, butter smooth. Play Saumari Vengeance2 THD with chainfire 3D at stock speeds fine too.

I'm still loving my SGS. I'm running Darky's ROM 10.2, and it is working just fine.
But, a client came into the office last week with a SGSII - and it was a thing of great beauty!
I think that will be my next phone - but probably not for a while yet.

I start a new job tomorrow, and I think they're going to give me an iPhone for a work mobile.
I'll end up carrying two phones again - the SGS for personal use (on Vodafone) and the iPhone on TelstraClear.
Have to keep the personal-Vodafone unit because :-
1. I like the SGS
2. I have Vodafone family on my current vodafone plan - can't do equivalent on the work TelstraClear plan
3. You can't do tethering on a TesltraClear mobile plan - (and I use tethering with my Asus Eee Pad Transformer) I was wrong - you can tether on TC with an SGS, It's just that tethering doesn't work for iPhones (easily).
4. I bought the SGS with a subsidy on the Vodafone Smart plan, which has about 11 months to go still - so it would cost me to stop the plan.

Maybe in about a year things will change to the point that I can have just the one mobile phone again - and hopefully that will be an SGSII or maybe even an SGSIII by then. :)

I have recently upgraded to stock 2.3.5 but for some reason my phone losses constant connection and give me error No Network available. Was wondering what is the best modem? I am on XT.

timely discussion however, i just did a bit of research and the successor to the UGKC1 modem is now UGKG3

its a md5 file that you need to flash using Odin

i did some preliminary testing using speedtest and GPS test, speeds are now averaging 2.5mbps down, 1mbps up, compared to 1.8mbps down and 700kbps up using UGKC1 - tested several times and averaged from the same place in my apartment

and in the same place, GPS used to get lock in about 20 sec to 5 satellites with 30m accuracy, with this new KG3 modem i locked to 9 satellites in about 10sec with 10meter accuracy

and you couldnt say "favorable atmospheric conditions" helped, cus it just snowed outside my apartment on Nelson St here in Auckland ;p

As per my earlier post I have upgraded to 2.3.5 & also have the UGKG3 Modem and i uderstand i have to update it via ODIN (probably phone) but its just a MD5 file and wanted to be sure if that is where I update it from... damn its not CWM (always very apprehensive using ODIN )

Currently have an 8GB SGS, with a 8GB micro SD card.

Does anyne know what the maximum sized SD card is that I can run with a 8GB phone, is it 16GB or can I use a 32GB card ?

Finding an 8GB card a bit small with photos, music, etc. At the moment have to spread it out across the phone's USB storage and the SD card, but would prefer to have it all together on an external card.

It supports 32gb cards but I couldn't guarantee any would work, I think I might get a 32gb one soon too, they're getting cheap.
