Well im sorry SGS users/lovers but im going to go and buy a Nexus one today. No doubt SGS is a better device, but I feel that the Nexus one is more "solid". By that I mean it has better development, less bugs and the first for updates. Thats just my opinion anyway :)

I think it'll just take a bit of time for the SGS community to pick up - I think Samsung is going to sell a huge number of these, so the community will get better.

I was going to get the Nexus one for the same reason but I didn't like the digitiser problems some people were having with it.

I'm starting to have dreams about the SGS after playing with Waylon's one this week. I think I need to buy one as soon as I get back home!

I like the look of the AT & T Captivate. Is the process to root and modify/apply new ROMs the same as what you guys have done? Is the hardware exactly the same also apart from the slightly different housing of the Captivate.

Oh and one more question. Can the Captivate version be purchased without the AT & T customized firmware eg Captivate with out of the box generic firmware.

Cheers.

If anyone needs a case, I have a few now :) just PM me and we'll sort something out

Unlike my previous pics, the new case I picked up doesn't have the random cutout on one corner!!!(have a black, blue, pink, orange, purple :S, keeping a few so I can change colour every day :)...apart from pink)

Woo! Purchased one from mobicity nz.
8GB version with an 8GB card with free car charger
All up it is about $937.02 with the $24 discount code found in this forum.
The bad news however is that it has been placed on backorder, NOOOOOOOOOO. Curse all of you buying them all.

Hidden bands?

So the general consensus has been that the bands have been limited to the radio hardware used in each respective variance of the Galaxy S around the world, but it seems there might actually be a perfect model after all...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754543

If there is a model that could support 2100/900/850 UMTS, then I'd be very interested in it.

To check what your unit supports the procedure is here -
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1662409-Samsung-Vibrant-T-Mobile-*AND*-ATT-3g-capable!'

It would be nice to not have to worry about paying a premium for an AT&T or Telstra branded 850 unit and to be able to swap between Vodafone and XT without missing out on VF's extended network (like the iphone 4 can do).

No '*' in any of the WCDMA boxes? Well thats not right unless you've got a magical GSM only model.
