M_I_C_H_A_E_L: I think Oldeyes was refering to the HTC Sensation. I said it makes the decision harder (at least for me) and so thats why he said not if you want to use it on XT.

I could be wrong though.

That makes more sense. I probably should have looked up a little.

The only real way to choose between the two will be to handle them both and see which one feels better to you. You may prefer Sense over TouchWiz, or the increased weight of the Sensation. All I can say is that the SGS2 is a very tough phone to beat.

$999 ($1024 with shipping) now from Top 10. Probably the cheapeast price going around if anybody wants to buy.

Wow! I can't help but feel sorry for some poor bugger who bought the SG1 for that price a few months.

In some ways it doesn't surprise me that the price has gone that low so soon, Samsung apparently want to iterate their flagship model on a yearly basis, like Apple. So June (or was it 1st Q 2012), the SG3 may be coming out.

L.

Hmmm, unboxing videos *drool*

I just can't get past the chunkiness of the Sensation though - when you're working with 4"+ formfactors, you really need to compensate by keeping it thin as Samsung have with the SGS2.

Hmmm, which ones?  Since the Nexus S is still 1149 at vodafone?  And unfortunately they are the only official carrier so far(not that I'm complaining, mine came in well under $999 :))

Yep, I can confirm it is launching very soon. The price is correct. Quite hefty to be honest. Stock has arrived in the country.

Guess I won't be buying one at that price..  Was hoping that Vodafone and Telecom would selling them at $999.  I suspect that only the "must haves" will buy at this price..

Will be buying a SGS1 or Captivate instead..

Neither. I think $1000 for a phone is a bit of a rip-off aswell tbh, but thats the price I expect to pay for a top end device. Not $1200 though thats to far. I wont be buying one at that price either.

The one saving grace I can see is that the lifespan of handsets is getting shorter and shorter as all the major manufacturers are turning new phones out more quickly - the price should drop more quickly as they move from price skimming to price penetration. . . . . . Excluding Apple of course. . . . . Wink

I dont think the SGS2 is coming on the 15th June (I could be wrong, I hope I am). Vodafone Australia have got it up for Pre-Sale and it says "Delivery times for Samsung Galaxy S II: Deliveries will begin from the end of June".

Now I am guessing Australia will get the device before us as they usaully do with phones (I think).

Unless I am reading this wrong? Or if you Pre-Order you just get the little bonuses but have to wait longer than people who buy it in a retail store.

http://shop.vodafone.com.au/mobile-details/samsung-galaxy-s-II?pid=v:shp::galxs2:android:samg-galxs-...

Again, I could be wrong or misunderstanding it.

Seeing as how about a quarter of the population seem to have iphones, I don't think they're too worried :)

A $200 discount is enough for me to not give Vodafone my money though.

Agreed - the only reason I've held off getting one is to see what kind of deals VF are offering, as I'd like to go onto a plan. . . .but I'm not going to pay $80 a month for the privilege - I'd rather stay pre-pay and get a PI SGS2.
