No '*' in any of the WCDMA boxes? Well thats not right unless you've got a magical GSM only model.

Damager: Handsets with both 3G 850 and 900 mhz are still uncommon if any at all. No chipsets as of yet have been developed successfully to have both of these live nicely together. This is pretty much. There are a few usb modems that have both on board but as far as handsets go, still rare. Towards the end of 2010, there may be more handsets that are 3G 850/900/2100.

Yes but its not impossible (as the iphone 4 demonstrates).
The Galaxy S is a new device still being produced and introduced into different markets, Bell in Canada is one of the most recent markets to get the phone, so if that poster on xda forums hasn't made a typo, then I'll be very happy as I'm likely to change from VF to XT in within the next 6 months.
seriously:
Not by default no, I bumped into one after going in and checking (to take a picture) and you can select them yourself??
Picture 1 = Before I selected/default with 2degrees SIM and UK version.

picture 2 = after bumping and realising you can add them (not sure if actually does??)

Damager:
Not an iPhone fan, so it wasnt in my train of thought in terms of current handsets. I wonder if the same chipset in the AT & T Captivate is the same as the other Galaxy S versions and the radio is only activated for certain frequencies depending on the network?
kiwijunglist: Standard procedure for mobicity is to open the box, turn the phone on for testing (including inserting a SIM) +/- unlocking prior to sending.
I have no idea what they did there exactly.

Buy the Samsung i9000 Galaxy S for XT, unlocked and with 12 months warranty from MobiCity. Stock is now expected to ship in mid-August with AT&T branding however deliveries have been delayed already so we have no definite ETA at this stage.

Selecting 'Automatic' at the top of the menu (before the selection of COMBI BANDS) gave me the same as you, all but the 850 WCDMA with the *.

I wonder where it pulls those from (if it polls the network its currently connected to or references the firmware) and what would happen if you popped in an XT sim and disabled all the GSM entries and 900 WCDMA and enabled 850...
