I just use people widgit.
I have linked them with my fb friends so have their pics and all.
As far as dialing from scratch I just deal with all the other contacts.
You can set people to be only your mates, so use this when calling buddies.

Im a noob but works for me :)

I have 2 gig of apps and cant figure 90% out haha

Hahaaa!  made me laugh.  It's good that you only have your mates in your contacts :)

I have about 500 contacts, cause it's synced with our CRM, so there are hundreds of clients and other contacts in there.

To get the People widget to show only your mates do this:
1. Create a group in your contacts called 'mates'  (mine is actually called 'frequent' to class the people i call most)
2. Add mates or the people you want in the widget to this group
3. when adding the People widget to your home screen, select the group you created in step 1.

hope this helps.

After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number). The new Software number will be 2.10.405.2
Update Information: 1.Android OS update patch 2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support 3.Improved Russia keyboard layout

Note: We still recommend you back up your all personal data first.

Bugger, Swype not open to new testers i see :(

Hey can anyone recommend a sms application for sending/receiving that isn't the default android 2.2 app 'Messages' or Handcent?  'Messages' is sllloow, and Handcent, as good as it is, seems to stop remembering sent and received texts as though I've reached a limit it can hold ('Messages' shows all of them though so the messages do exist on the phone)

Any tips for a new application or how to fix Handcent is appreciated!
Thanks,
Jerry

I updated pretty recently (within a couple of weeks) so I'm assuming it'll be the version I have which is version 1.56.30.7625

hope that helps

Chompsms is pretty good.

Customizable to the same extend at handcent and much the same in every aspect except maybe a little smoother running.
