will a galaxy s2 mhl-hdmi external powered adaptor work on the s4? mine doesn't :(

my "video" app is broken. I can play video 100% fine when selecting from "gallery" but cannot open the "video" app itself ... maybe it's a Samsung/Google app that I "froze"? I did not freeze anything that is not "Samsung" or "google" type app

No, an S2 MHL adapter won't work. From the S3 onwards Samsung moved to an 11-pin configuration of their MHL ports, rather than 5-pin (like the S2 and all other MHL devices). Presumed reason is so that the Smart Dock can do MHL and simultaneous OSB OTG.

Just bought a 3g version from Expert Infotech as I felt I don't need 4g.

After being told there is not difference other than the cpu, i felt comfortable.

However, the manuals are in arabic, the charging plug is wrong, and I have some Islam prayer app installed by default.

Pretty unimpressed.

Then I tried to install the free Navigon app available to NZ, only to be told it cannot be installed on my device.

Is there anyway I can hack this phone so everything about it is completely NZ, and I can install Navigon?

This sound a bit dodge, I would return it straight away. Are you sure it's not a fake?

You could just install one of the official images from here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9500

...as long as you've bought the octa-core I9500

Gsmarena have completed some testing between i9505 qualcom s600 quad vs i9500 exynos octa.

exynos octa is marginally faster, while s600 quad has much better battery life. Conclusion is s600 quad is the one to go for because the minimal extra performance exynos quad has isnt worth the rather significant loss of battery life.

phonearena also posted some benchmark comparisons - some benchmarks s600 quad is faster while in others the exynos is faster. Again the scores are pretty close. No battery comparison though.

basically says the Exynos chip isn't functioning as first thought but most wouldn't notice the difference.

Me too!! I think they learned there lesson from last year, they did a 20% off and the S3 was released.. Boom 20% off S3 RRP.
