AnfieldBoy: Has any one had any issues with the power button becoming non responsive?

Mine will go to sleep and when I press the power button to wake it it nothing happens until I have pressed the power button several times at which point the phone will come onto the shutdown menu.

A hard reset may fix it but that would erase all the data, a hard reset on a iPhone would just reset the phone anything similar on Android?

A few hours ago it was unresponsive for about 10 mins and then started working. A long press would bring up the shut down/airplane mode options but a single press wouldn't do anything.

In other news, I had to uninstall whatsapp because it wouldn't run. Now when I try to reinstall I get an error message. On investigation it seems as though I have to either root the device to be able to delete some of the original files in a folder or do a hard reset. Are you serious?? My iphone 5 is starting to look better than a few days ago...

And I have just had to put it on charge. Thats from full charge at 6:30 this morning to less than 5% in 8 hours. No phone calls, surfed the net for a bit, couple of txts and about an hour reading an ebook in the kindle app, a little bit of fiddling too but hardly anything demanding. If I did the same on my iphone I would be very surprised if it was below 60% battery. Of course, the nexus is a beautiful phone but if I can't get 24 hours without a recharge at least 50% of the time it is probably a deal breaker :(

hey guys, i finally got the time to think of getting the 16gb :)) lol theres 2 shops to buy it from, it's either WHS or 2deg? which one should i buy it from that'll benefit me in the long run hence that 2 year warranty do they both have the same warranty conditions? its either the warehouse stationary or the 2 degrees since they deal with with cellphones.

One problem if you use orcons genius go it won't work with nexus 5. Guess it doesn't like android 4.4

Got mine at the weekend - very nice phone :) I am using it on Telecom XT network. I put the 4G SIM in and am getting 60Mbps downstream and 12.5Mbps upstream at my desk in Auckland CBD. Got to be happy with that.

Mine strated going funny at the weekend. No sound, unresponsive power button and now it has completely bricked.

Arrgh.

Bought from WHS will be heading there with receipt shortly.

Finally got my 4G microsim on Friday. 113 Mbps down, 34 Mbps up at my office in Newmarket. More than double the speed of the home VDSL!

Just be careful running 4G speed tests though - they chew thru 100 MB of data each time. 1 test blew out the rest of my monthly data on Friday

- just as well I rolled into a new month on Saturday

Now all we need is some decent data caps.

In case like me you were late to the party or you dint spend hours finding out what your nexus 5 could do

I went to try "ok Google" and it didn't work , Now does thanks to this information

@anfieldboy Will be interested to hear how you get on. Returning mine when I get back to Auckland and I will be looking for a replacement or refund, I don't think it's right to receive a faulty product then have to wait possibly weeks for it to be fixed.
I emailed the manager of the store setting out what had happened and asking what action would be taken to rectify the issue but I have not had a response.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

My monthly data allowance refreshes tomorrow and luckily I have plenty left. Second test was 72M down and 14M up. Still not quite up to your results which are amazing.
