True, I suspect the "Not affiliated with them" line might not hold much water.

It's hard to judge much from TradeMe feedback for an outfit who deals primarily with boy racers, they're not exactly a group known for their discerning nature.

Still, with 3000+ feedback, it at least proves they've been around for a while.

In other news, I tried "ChainFire3D" with the demo of the "Riptide" game. Wow. The game is just another "Wipeout" clone, but the water effects are pretty amazing. Getting it to work took a bit of mucking around, you need to get a plugin to emulate the Tegra shaders and then a patch for the Riptide game as it's a "special case", but if you want something to show off the hardware, it's pretty good.

I hope its legit - otherwise I wasted my $50.00...

Although I hear class 4 outperms most class 10 cards for everyday use, for $50.00 - Class 10 (even it underperforms slightly), can't complain...

Will test on my SGS2 once here.

Also - I def aint affiliated - just thought it was a great score and wanted to share.

K1000716: I'm on lite'ning v1.5. No problems at all, using about 1% per hour when sleeping. Have frozen a few apps and am heavily undervolted.

sorry for being so stupid. i have chainfire kernel.

Question:

- i want to flash to lite'ning rom 1.5 due to battery savings ... will i lose my data, apps, settings?
- how do i backup the entire phone/in its entirity for easy revert back in case i lose certain function which is non negotiable? (will i lose function due to the lightened OS)
- when android 2.3.4 is out how do i upgrade?

You go into recovery mode (start the phone from off holding in the volume up and home keys) and go into backup.

Received my i9100 from einfo.co.nz the other day ($930 nz), and it lasted about one day before I rooted and flashed it. lol.

I was quite pleased to see some tacit support of the developer community by samsung in the download mode; no protected bootloader crap etc. About time - the rest of the industry needs to follow suit.

Anyway, I flashed cognition 1.07 onto it.

Seems pretty good, i have been very impressed by the i9100 so far, UI response is fluid and sooth (stock rom also), I think this is greatly helped by the extra RAM. Would like to see some i9000 like extras in the kernel of the i9100 though, guess it's early days yet.

Like everyone else, I am experiencing high drain from the "android system" processes and hope they bring out 2.3.4 soon....

Enjoying having a flash on the camera again, lol. Like the textured back on it. The screen is gorgeous - I think apple will be working hard to beat that, but samsung cant much around - we need more pixels, 400x800 is getting old.

Could have had a better sound chip - I note 5.1 sound is missing from the built in music app....

I'm using swype again. Couldn't be bothered on the i9000, for some reason. I used smartkeyboardpro, but swype seems a bit more responsive now.

I purchased a body skin kit for $7 US from some outfit overseas; arrived in 3 days!!! haven't put it on though - that coating on the screen is sooo silky.... But i'd hate to scratch it....

Keen to get a OTG cable. anyone local selling them?

with regards to battery sucking in background:

hey just a thought - you know how there is this talk about buying juicedefender to convert 3g to 2g when not needed eg on wifi ...

does it mean the more apps you install the more background activity there will be and that it is unstopabble without juicedefender $$ (or eq)? i heard choosing "disable background data" doesnt really work.

all the silly facebook, whatsapp, tango, ebay and whatnots are using up battery all the time. any way to selectively stop them from doing that (or at least figure out which ones are hogging the battery with their background activity?)

There's little point in playing with the likes of Juice Defender while the OS version is still 2.3.3. The biggest battery eater right now is the Android OS bug, and the only way to fix that is with 2.3.4. According to rumors we should receive the update next month, so hopefully only a couple of weeks away.

If you still have battery issues after the update, then it's time to start looking as task killing apps.

Has anyone used SetCPU with Lite'ning ROM 1.5? I can increase it past the standard 1200Mhz.

I'm using Tegrak Ultimate, works well. I did have SetCPU to start with but I find Tegrak much better.

Chainfire (xda developer) has developed a new benchmark system, definitely worth giving a try. Works better with dual core systems and isdn't as easily cheated. My personal best with Quadrant was 5001 :-)
