Yeah Samsung fast chargers aren't compatible with Huawei Supercharge

Well first full day with the phone and battery life is looking promising.

10 hours of charge, 1 hour screen time, 15 minutes of calls. Mobile data on the whole time and I just dropped to 80% while writing this.

Just got some issues with app notifications. Like the Mate 9 I had last year the power manager seems to get over aggressive and stop a lot of apps from running in the background. Not sure if I should just disable this feature or wait and see if the artificial intelligence works out that I actually want to use these apps and that it should keep them in memory.

My preorder from pbtech arrived about an hour ago laughing

To much work to do though so haven't pulled any of the new toys out undecided

Also need to go and find a nanosim from somewhere.

That was painful to watch but I wonder just how rough are people with their phone as to necessitate such robust protection in the first place.

So - brief thoughts after a few days use. Bear in mind that this was a direct jump from an LG G2 (never upgraded beyond 5.0) so a fairly dramatic generational shift. That said - the G2 held up pretty well in most respects bar being dog slow the last few months.

  • Battery life seems pretty excellent - currently 30 hours since unplugged, moderate use, and sitting above 70%
  • Screen looks great - and particularly with the offscreen navigation enabled, is a lot of usable area.
  • Camera is impressive - obviously not up to the quality of a decent mirrorless/SLR in terms of fine details (we have OM-D with a good lense), but stunning for a phone and certainly miles better than point and shoots I used in the last decade.
  • Audio seems fine - particularly through the bonus Sennheisers laughing which are awesome.
  • The face unlock works really quickly as does the fingerprint scanner. Having the combination of both seems to be the best way forward to me.

P20 or P20 Pro?

Pro laughing - the $200 price difference made it a no brainer for the additional specs, and in any case I was mostly drawn (vs other options) to the camera.

Should add - while only used a couple of times:

  • the detail in 'pure' b+w photos is impressive
  • I was initially slightly 'meh' on the zoom - until I took a step back figuratively and put it in the context of 'this is a phone, not a camera' - in that sense the zoom is also impressive

Agree. For only $200 difference, you get much better camera system, bigger OLED screen, more RAM, bigger battery, water resistance.

Unless you really want a slightly smaller phone, it's really a no brainer.

Also, noticed 2degrees lists both the P20 and the P20 Pro as compatible with their WiFi Calling.

Anyone using Android File Transfer on macOS - is Huawei P20 Pro compatible or is the MTP implementation broken like it is with Samsung's build of Android?
