Oh thats unfortunate... If true then I guess I'll be staying with the GS after all, especially since I jsut learnt that the latest 2.2 update has support for the BT HID profile...

Why the screen snobbery?
Personally I find all these different screens a bit of a moot point.
Sure putting certain phones side by side one may have a better screen. But does that make the other screen bad?
The iPhone4 is meant to have a better screen than the Desire, does it worry me that I have a Desire? Hell no the screen is AMAZING and anything better I probably wouldn't notice as i can't see any faults with the Desire one.

I cannot see HTC releasing the HD with a crap screen.

I'm more concerned about battery life, the Evo is known for its horrible battery life due to its larger than life LCD screen. Sure the 45nm processor will help extend the battery past the evo but it won't count for much.

Oled is said to have great battery life and super LCD is supposed to beat that further. Seems really strange that htc would not only neglect to put in a larger battery but also a energy efficient screen?

This phone is supposed to be the flagship for now, let's hope other optimizations were made to accomodate the battery life.

Put your Desire next to an iPhone4, the Desire is a much better display, I have done so with my daughters iPhone4.

However I live in Nelson and smartphones are not exactly common here yet!

Yep, I know that technically the iPhone is a better display, but side by side the entire family picked the Desire as the better display. Rock into a Vodafone shop and ask to compare.

Yeah, I live in Nelson.... Not all that high on the list of priority as far as getting the 4 in store.... They can place orders, but can't tell me when they will have one in store you can actually look at. But I will keep checking as Im quite intrigued by that

People in the Apple Reality Distortion Zone (like any religion) don't usually let the evidence of their own eyes interfere in any way with what they BELIEVE.

If they did, there would be no religion at all.

In regards to the screen, there seems to be alot of rumours flying around the place that this device won't come with a S-LED screen. However, this is not yet confirmed. From what I have read, the HTC HD2 uses an LED screen. It really doesn't look that shabby, not bad enough to make you notice that easily with the naked eye.

Not really, the fact you can see the (lack of) benefits of an iphones screen (you can see/prove the negative) You can't really 'see' the evidence disproving God or whatever. But that's a discussion for another time.

Yeah tbh, all this screen hoo-haa is over rated. I can't fault the Desires screen (except perhaps in direct sunlight, it sucks then) and it's bigger... The iPhones screen looks quite small next to the Desires.

The iPhone 4 screen looks much better than any of the oled screens to my eye.

Sure everything looks more vivid on oled but the detail just isn't there - if you have good vision you can make out extremely small text on the iPhone.

re the Desire screen in daylight. I have a cheap trademe screen protector on mine, and I cannot fault the screen in broad daylight 100% usable. Even when wearing sunglasses and the sun directly on the screen.
I dunno what all the complaints are about? Maybe the protector kills the glare....
