6P in 128gb flavour is tempting. Might get the P8 Max though, decisions...

hahah, if you go to
https://store.google.com/product/adopted_case_n5x
and look at the "enjoy it with" section, it states the nexus 5X is $759.
probably a good indicator of NZ price

I see $659 in AU. Seems they have exposed local pricing.

6P from AU$899.

Premiums over US pricing even accounting for forex and tax.

US$379 = $594 NZD. Call it $600+GST would be NZ$690, plus a US$70 premium

Hardware wise the Nexus 5p is similar to the Xiaomi Mi4c except the Xiaomi is considerably cheaper.

Looking forward to the reviews......

It is very interesting the cost differences around the world, a few countries like NZ get hit worse than others, found this article and table

Can you justify the $352.65 price difference between the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P?

The N6 is effectively on runout, it started life at USD649 but can be bought for around USD350 at the moment so is all relative really

For example, it's the same thing when Holden drops $8k off the list price of an old model Commodore on run out.

Relative values be damned. Out with the old at bargain basement prices to clear space for the new.

So, NZ$1,099 for the 32gb 6P, which I assume means NZ$1,199 for the 64gb 6P.

meanwhile, NZ$759 for the 16gb 5X, and probably NZ$859 for the 32gb.

That is some steep as pricing, not at all what one might expect given the reasonable US pricing of the 6P

Someone might have luck buying direct from Huawei - I tried and failed. I'm guessing it had something to do with my NZ c/c and Youshop Address.

Will be interesting to see what how the landed price (following currency conversion, tax etc) compares with the Google NZ price.

US-sourced will be more of a hassle for warranty repairs if required.

Front page has the deets for the 6p. Too rich for my blood. http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=18573

  • NZ$1099.00 – 32GB
  • NZ$1199.00 – 64GB
  • NZ$1349.00 – 128GB

Nothing yet on the 5x, but I would assume you are correct with the 750-850 mark. Anyone remember what the original nexus 5 was when it came out?
