Greekiwi: No, you wouldn't be the only one but I am willing to bet you are in the minority.

Are you mainly concerned with the larger bezel/larger footprint altogether? Or is there something else?

Just what I said in my post really. Really don't like the colour..

The Telecom store on Lambton Quay in Wellington just said this Friday (although only for their marquee store on Willis St)

All other retailers I've seen are the 2nd, so would assume the same. Pre-Orders for Telecom are being sent "So they arrive on the 2nd at the latest" so might even get them a bit early?

Just been reading some reports of a One (M8) Prime that may be in the works at HTC. Kind of a mid phase update like they have done in the past with the Max and the +. Higher res screen, tweaked processor and battery maybe. A higher res ultra-pixel camera would be great as well, but I think that will have to wait for the M9.
Nice to see that the M8 is topping a lot of the magazine smartphone lists as well, particularly from some publications that haven't been able to walk past an Apple store in the past. Has fared pretty well in shootouts with the S5 and Z2 as well.

I have been asking the Telecom store in the Telecom building pretty regularly but they didn't know when yesterday, but going by other suppliers and people on here tomorrow seems like the day, I'm waiting for my parcel pod notification to run across the road  already!

Still little disappointed that I didn't wait longer since other stores are doing much better specials then Telecom, that's the folly I get for being impatient.

I'm really hoping that someone will stock the orange dot view case soon. I know it's expensive but it's orange and it has a sorta display on the front.

This will be my first HTC phone since the first HTC Desire, then I had 3 generations of Galaxy phones, I'm quite excited about this actually, loved my Desire so much more then my old iPhone 3G

NikT:

I bought an unlocked Developer Edition from Amazon... realise that the 4G may not work.. but on paper it has the bands all there so maybe can get it working on 4G here by flashing a TNZ/VF radio..
The all up landed cost including GST and Youshop shipping was $941.74. it will arrive tomorrow!

HTC says:

Networks: LTE Quad Band (Bands 17/4/2/5); LTE MIMO; GSM/EDGE: Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 Hz), Class 12; UMTS: Tri-band (UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz), HSPA+Category 14xx (HSDPA 21Mbps/ EDCH 5.7 Mbps);

Ouch. No DC-HSPA+, no 900MHz 3G, no useful 4G. Unless you're using it on Telecom/Skinny, you'll not have a great time with this device in NZ, more's the pity. :(

Took a run into the big smoke today.. first time since powering up my Developer Edition M8 and to my great surprise LTE is working on Telecom. So I am happiness filled!!.. not only is it a great phone at a great price. I can have full connectivity with it as well.

And from Telecom:

HTC One (M8) now available on the Telecom Mobile Network

The HTC one (M8) is now available to customers on the Telecom Mobile Network, in-stores and online.

The device has already been acclaimed as a “beautiful” piece of smartphone technology with its bold, brushed metal body and frame.

Other highlights of the One (M8) are its Dual Front Facing Speakers utilising HTC BoomSound that allows its user to enjoy loud, distortion-free music. Telecom customers on selected plans can also enhance their music experience on the HTC One M8 by enjoying free Spotify Premium and taking advantage of over 20 million music tracks available at their fingertips.

The device also includes the HTC Duo Camera – a camera with a dual lens that brings blurry objects into focus faster than before.
