Announced an hour ago, much more fully featured than I expected.

I'll take one to go with my Note 3 ASAP please :-)

Yep. Charge my phone every night and take my current watch off every night so no different.

I have just managed to grab a pebble. It is certainly refreshing to not have to pull the phone out of the pocket to find out what notification I just got. Phone is now on silent permanently. It should make my smartphone usage "less obtrusive"

The Gear is a nice looking phone. Maybe the Sony Smartwatch 2 is a better option with better battery life?

The Gear must be bluetooth 4 only due to it's limited compatibility? Nice to see it is kind of waterproof.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Some cool features, but personally think the price is a bit steep. Also not being a Samsung phone or tablet user, it's not going to convert me into one just so I can get the watch

I'm thinking that due to these smart watches being still in infancy its just a marketing thingy to match it with the Note 3, doing this continually will make the item unsaleable but being new tech there is a biggish niche for early adopters.

Indeed, it does sound similar to another startup unit I backed and expect for christmas. They Kreyos. Pebble certainly lead the way in innovation, now they all want in on it.

I've got a Sony smartwatch, and now know what I'm looking for in a watch. The toq by qualcomm has piqued my interest. http://toq.qualcomm.com/#toq-hello

They need inductive charging pads imo. Would make it easier to take it off and place it on the pad rather than plug it i and water proof too.

Telecom has it exclusively in NZ (initially at least) on the 3rd October for $449. Note 3 available from them same day (and required for the watch to work until the S4 gets 4.3) for $1199.

Thanks Scott. Have forwarded this information to SWMBO. No way I'm going to tell her while she's in the same room as me!
