Im sad to say that Sony is moving out of their premises on Willis St at the end of March.

As a avid Sony fan, Im sad and disappointed they didnt take some sales off Samsung & Apple. I have used all manufacturers and always regarded as Sony as my favourite company.

I now cant play with their tech in the flesh no more :-(

I just hope Apple dont move in there I would be very angry!!!

Sony are having a end of lease sale so could be bargains there, Im going to pop in at lunch to have a look!

Like you I think of Sony being a good brand. When somebody mentions Sony, I think premium. Cant say im not surprised though, their prices were higher than other retailers I think?

I _used_ to think Sony were a premium brand.. I've been sorely disappointed the last decade or so.

You'd be angry if Apple moved in?

That's an odd thing to be angry about... just saying.

Sony's stores have become less relevant over time, but with many stores simply choosing not to stock their eclectic offerings like Hi-Res micro-systems, portable headphone amps etc, I guess they had to put them somewhere or not stock them at all!

Frankly, you can pick up their TV range at any major electronics retailer. So effectively, they've had a store that has been setup to compete directly against their own customers (JB's / Harvey's / Noels etc).

I'll be sad to see them go. Anybody know if they planning to relocate, or are getting out of the branded store altogether?

I've always been a big Sony fan, currently owning two Sony bluray players, one Sony TV, a Sony 7.1 receiver, two Sony cameras, two Sony bluetooth speaker units (one with CD and radio), and an old Sony clock radio that had two separate small tower speakers and still sounds awesome. And in the past I've had countless Sony walkmans, discmans, VCRs, CD and DVD players.

Might have to pop in at lunchtime and see if they have any deals on camera lenses...

@dunnersfella

I had a very bitter experience with Apple and hence i would never go back to them again. Dont get me started on their so called premium bull they claim to have. Dont get me wrong they have a good product but it aint worth queuing up for.

Yes thats correct for TVs maybe but their other tech i.e. Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, nobody in NZ except Sony stocked it! In terms of the high street stores anyway.

I currently have a Sony Xperia Z, PS3 and a blue ray home theatre system which is just amazing! Need a new TV though my old 42" Samsung plasma has seen much better days and is scratched completely

A genuine  Apple store in Wellington would be awesome. Yoobee is a poor excuse for an Apple shop.

Sony was a good brand but has been in decline due to funding shortages, the store has reflected this.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Shame, but given that JB HiFi were right below them, I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. Plenty more room for some more women's clothing stores then.

Buying online is like a kid with his nose pressed up to the Chocolate Shop window. Nothing like the look, feel and atmosphere of an Apple store, they do it so well the entire experience.

@ MikeB4

I simply cant see the difference between trying an ipad in an Apple store compared to Harvey Norman. Oh the surroundings are lovely but exactly same product right front of you. I have been to the Sydney & Singapore Apple stores and really there is no difference between them. Of course heaps of sheep lining up to try an ipad thats already in your local Harvey Norman. A bit religious I find.

There is no difference between an Apple store and a retailer selling Apple gear? Right...
