I have a Sony TV with Chromecast built in.

I'd like to cast Amazon Prime video to the tv but I'm blowed if I can work out how.

Anyone know how?

Amazon do not support Chromecast.

The only way to do it is tab casting from desktop.

Ive found better luck with a miracast dongle than a chromecast for cloning my phone screen to a TV. The chromecast was much laggier and ended up with heavier compression artifacting.

Some android phones can screen mirror to a Chromecast

Yeah, I can do both but the miracast seems a nicer result. Not tried it on the current gen chromecast yet, just the older single band ones but it was really bad on that.

Watching suits S7 E1 this evening on Galaxy S6 - LightBox. Casting it from the Galaxy S6 to the Roku. Just pull down the top of the screen and select 'Quick connect' and go from there. Seems to work pretty good as long as the phone is near enough to both the Roku and the Wifi AP.

If you have a smart tv you might be able to leave the Roku out of the equation.

It's simple! I have a S7 and Sony android TV and I regularly successfully cast.

On your TV: Using the remote, sequence through the input options until you get to screen mirroring (top left button on remote).

On your Phone: Pull down the notification screen (two finger pulldown) and choose Smart View (you may have to swipe to the left to see it).

Job done. You should see your TV registering the android device, after about 30 seconds you will have your android screen displayed on your tv.

On occasions, they may fail to pair. If this is the case, simply unplug you Sony at the TV (pull the plug from the right hand side of TV, then plug back in) to re-boot the TV. You should be good to go after this.

Kinda.

It works unless you use a VPN on the phone (to be able to watch things on Prime that are not available in NZ) then it won't work.
