Can't help with the why, but I can tell you it works fine for my work mail on my Android phone and my wife's Android phone does home and work email with Outlook fine too.

I use it on two devices for work emails. It works OK, no problems that I've noticed.

I find the Samsung app to be very good. For me the big advantage of using the native app is that it integrates well with the rest of the apps on the device particularly the calendar app and the contacts.

You get a meeting invite via an email and it will flow easily into the calendar. if you use an after market email app you very often need to use the calendar that comes with that app and you end up running two calendars. Also not all notifications work properly with the after market app.

I have had this at least twice.

Both times deleting the app eventually worked
