I have an issue with my back up phone. When is receive a phone call and go to answer it the phone is not recognising the gesture and will not answer. Other touch activity is OK. The phone is up to date(as much as a Nothing Phone is). The phone App is up to date. I have reset network etc, cleared cache etc, force restarted phone. I have also removed the factory installed screen protector. I have searched in settings including accessibility and developer for adjusting touch sensitivity and cannot find a setting for this.

Any ideas folks or do I need to bin the device and buy a new back up phone?

People might be better able to help you if you included the make and model of the phone.

Try tapping the screen a couple of times in a blank area before you try to swipe up or down to answer / reject a call. That may wake up the touch engine.
Not sure if this can be done in a Nothing phone, but can you configure the power button or a volume button as an answer call button?

There does not seem to be a way to remap the buttons such as the Essential button or power button.

There seems to be some unofficial ways to achieve this, if you Google...

I believe there are third party hacks and Apps that can remap but I really don't want to go down that route if possible.

I would say if you cant answer a phone call, which is a feature a lot of people buy these things to do then its a significant fault and you should be going back to whoever sold it to you for a replacement or other resolution. Troubleshooting a basic feature of a device like this isnt something you should be expected to do.

Could you try backing up all your data, then initiating a factory reset?

The handset received the latest Nothing update and the June security patch and it has started to behave as it should, for reasons. So, I guess resolved.
