I finally built a couple of step stools for my son and one of his friends to use around the house. They're made from offcuts of american ash timber and still require a good sanding before a light oil coating.

Not sure exactly sorry. A buddy of mine is a furniture maker and these were made from leftover pieces of a table he made. I know he's used lumberbank before though. The grain in this ash is much darker than a typical piece, hence the offcuts.

OK so summer is coming....
As much as i enjoy watering the lawn, i believe that some automation needs to be put in place.

We moved into our new home about 3months or maybe 4 ago? We have the original 20,000L water tank sitting in the back garden collecting water and doing absolutely nothing with it. I can see at some point in time, it was actually connected to the house.

Anyway, decided to utilize the water....purchased a pressure pump and connected it to the tank.
Did the water bucket (9L) test and came out with 38.4LPM. I believe i can increase the LPM by using a bigger inlet pipe.

The project isnt 100% yet, still need to do some tweaks and add the automation device ( Rachia / blossom not sure yet )...

so the digging begins...

I've been planning to tidy up our lounge TV system.

I was inspired by this picture to build something similar:

Here's what I've done so far:

Behind the TV:

1 power point
1 UHF outlet
1 ethernet port
3 HDMI cables down to the cabinet (cabinet is yet to be built)
2 USB cables down to the cabinet

Behind the to be built cabinet:

3 double power points (with space for a fourth)
1 UHF outlet
Provision for two satellite outlets
4 ethernet ports (with space for 2 more if needed)
The 3 HDMI cables to the TV (TV has 3 HDMI ports)
Provision for a future surround sound system.

I've used PDL 600 series modular grid plates for all inlets/outlets, to allow for future expansion.
I can run more cable connections inside the wall from the TV to the cabinet if needed.

My next step is to build a wall mounted cabinet for the units that we have now (DVD recorder, Blu ray player and a Tivo.)
It's going to be 1000 * 400 * 400 mm, which should be large enough for all the foreseeable toys.

Any comments or suggestions? Cheers.

I'm having to replace a section of rotten chipboard flooring after stripping out the old kitchen ready for new cabinets. Cannot find a builder with short notice availability anywhere in Auckland so bought my first circular saw..

'Bar'-B-Q, finished a few weeks ago, made from our old BBQ and a laundry tub from TM:

I'm planning to re-do the timber front and splashback with a better matching stain.

Also an outdoor table, not really built so much as stuck together from an old gate and a table frame which someone started building then abandoned:

up next I've got to put my chainsaw back together, and do some refurb on a table and several chairs...
