I have seen videos like this one and they mainly just annoy me. I am perfectly capable of recognising when I am experiencing an emotional overreaction to something and controlling that. What I want, and can never seem to get, is practical information that applies to my situation.
I want to know if the fruit and veg I get delivered from the supermarket can carry the virus, and how long it can survive on them. I wash my bananas in soapy water, but I can’t do that with the broccoli and I’m not even certain I am doing it correctly with the bananas. How soapy does the water need to be? Is all soap equally effective? Does it even make a difference? I also wouldn’t mind definitive instructions on how to sanitise different kinds of items. I keep hearing how long the virus can survive on hard surfaces (is that still three days?) but what about uneven porous surfaces? How long can it live on the newspaper I get delivered each day? What are even the odds of getting an infection in this manner? Yes, I try to wash my hands frequently in the correct manner, but what happens if I touch my shopping afterwards? How easy is it to transmit this thing?
As a vulnerable person, I feel a fairly high level of anxiety about picking up an infection, but my anxiety is not based on hysteria. It is based on a lack of clear, definitive, comprehensive information on exactly what I have to do to avoid getting an infection by indirect secondary means. I live remotely. No-one coughs on me. I do not visit supermarkets or otherwise mix with large crowds. I have all that covered. I do not need to change my attitude or play mind games to feel better. I need solid information that applies to my situation, and that is still lacking.
