I have seen videos like this one and they mainly just annoy me. I am perfectly capable of recognising when I am experiencing an emotional overreaction to something and controlling that. What I want, and can never seem to get, is practical information that applies to my situation.

I want to know if the fruit and veg I get delivered from the supermarket can carry the virus, and how long it can survive on them. I wash my bananas in soapy water, but I can’t do that with the broccoli and I’m not even certain I am doing it correctly with the bananas. How soapy does the water need to be? Is all soap equally effective? Does it even make a difference? I also wouldn’t mind definitive instructions on how to sanitise different kinds of items. I keep hearing how long the virus can survive on hard surfaces (is that still three days?) but what about uneven porous surfaces? How long can it live on the newspaper I get delivered each day? What are even the odds of getting an infection in this manner? Yes, I try to wash my hands frequently in the correct manner, but what happens if I touch my shopping afterwards? How easy is it to transmit this thing?

As a vulnerable person, I feel a fairly high level of anxiety about picking up an infection, but my anxiety is not based on hysteria. It is based on a lack of clear, definitive, comprehensive information on exactly what I have to do to avoid getting an infection by indirect secondary means. I live remotely. No-one coughs on me. I do not visit supermarkets or otherwise mix with large crowds. I have all that covered. I do not need to change my attitude or play mind games to feel better. I need solid information that applies to my situation, and that is still lacking.

Although I am grateful to Countdown for their food delivery service, after two deliveries I am really unimpressed by their produce. It is expensive and the quality is very poor. It is never great, but the stuff in the store used to be reasonable. I have now had a rotting melon, rotten green beans, mushrooms and two lots of broccoli on the verge of going off. It is like the store shopper is choosing the oldest possible stuff for me. I am insecure about produce, and try to let it sit for a couple days before using, but the things I get from Countdown are already going off by then. What alternatives to supermarkets are there for produce deliveries?

@Rikkitic if you have not already, I'd encourage you to make a complaint.  They won't know there are process improvements to be made if nobody tells them.

If you live in Tauranga this organic farm delivers fresh produce. If not in Tauranga, have a google for an equivalent supplier. I get my free range eggs and gluten free bread delivered to my door cheaper than I can buy them at the supermarket. Also they are better quality or in stock, unlike my visits to the supermarket.

From previous communications they seem to be hugely overloaded at this time. I don't want to add to their burden and am inclined to cut them slack as these are not normal times, but I don't want to put up with crappy produce, either. I'm just looking for an alternative.

I'm massively relieved. It looks like we will come out the other side of this, hopefully back to something approaching normal pay in a couple of months and my job is going to still be there after Anzac Day. I know the trading environment will be massively different, but I might actually be able to get some sleep tonight.

I have not had that experience myself and sorry to hear that you have.

I do order the odd vegetable - my wife likes them for some reason - but they all look OK to me, or at least as OK as they are supposed to look!

Good to hear.

I have not really even begun to think about what we may have to do with the company after this. Every time I sit down to think about it, I realise that I have to make so many political, social and economic assumptions before I begin that any planning is just built on sand and not worth expending mental effort on.

So, my kids seem to be struggling all of a sudden. I think it's the fact that at Level 3, they expected to be able to get back to school, but because we are fortunate to have someone helping us at home (2 essential workers) they will be home. My son particularly, a very social and extremely physically active child is miserable and it's been hard to keep his spirits up the past few days. I am still working long hours and at the end of the day I am knackered and sometimes don't have energy to spend loads of time with them. We did make contact with his teacher today who has kindly offered to have a couple of 1:1 sessions with him, the first after her normal working hours, which was a kind gesture. I have also suggested they get more video sessions going between the groups of kids at school, even if it's not learning as much as just interacting, and we have been trying to arrange some activities for him and his usual friends to interact in downtime. My daughter is coping better, but she is a bit more of a solitary soul, though I did notice a bit of a peak in her brightness after the video session with her teacher. I need to contact her and try and encourage more video sessions too, though she has been considerably less receptive to requests for assistance in our experience. My daughter was the one we expected to struggle with self-directed study, but she has actually been really diligent and we are impressed she will often opt to continue working even after her allocated learning sessions are completed.

From a personal perspective, I tend to be someone who works from goal to goal. My next "goal" was a holiday in November to Hawaii, this now looks unlikely, so I am trying to determine what I would find as a suitable replacement to get me "up in the morning" so to speak.

You need to find a way to manage yourself so that you don't get burnt out.  You need to be able to get some valuable time with your family. Perhaps a scheduled break in the middle of the day to some family stuff? Work can, if you allow it, expand to the time allocated to it.

Instead of Hawaii, what is there in New Zealand (or perhaps Australia) that you would like to do or go and see? Make a list. When this is over we are going to need all those that can afford to to be doing the "See your country before you leave home" thing.

Perhaps in the short term your goal is to make the best job you can of working under the current conditions to be in the best place you can be when things pick up?

Re-framing our aspirations and goals is very important for most of us at this time.

My tribe went through a tetchy/horrible/nasty stage mid last week, but this seems to have settled.  There was some grumbling about not being able to see friends during Level 3 (we are in the suburbs) as they were hoping for a 'lockdown is over', but I guess we didn't prep them for what the change in levels meant.  Two of them were really hoping to be back at school, too.

My youngest is 10 and she's been Facetiming her cousin most days for a couple of hours.  They do crafts together or play computer games together (kind of 'beside each other').  The next one up has been making extensive use of his gaming headset and yakking to a cousin and two friends for a couple of hours a day.  They are allowed 2x 2 hour blocks on electronic devices during lockdown, with homework before the first session, pets and some outdoor time and some more school work before the late afternoon session.  This tighter structure has worked well.  The older ones are more self-managing and doing some video sessions with friends, homework, and reading.  Variety is good.  We are fortunate to have multiple devices that allow this interaction with peers.

Personally I'm making an effort to be finished by about 5:30 to 'be present', as I could very easily keep going a bit longer and suddenly its the little one's bedtime.

With Level 3 on its way I am looking forward to putting my bike on the back of the Rav and taking a short trip so I can ride it. I wont ride on the road as I cannot look behind me to see if a Mack truck is looming up. It will be a great boost to wellbeing.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
