Has anyone played around with the MHEG-5 and seen if the extended EPG is actually being send over the air on a particular PID?  As per: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHEG-5 there are a windows and linux open source MHEG-5 decoder.  Anyone tried them yet?

We have had support for MHEG-5 since the launch of DTH - http://www.mypvr.co.nz/mypvr/myPVR%20FreeView.html

Under Linux we can support it two different ways

1. MythTV's build in MHEG-5 decoder

2. RedButton - a stand alone tool.

Initially neither of these could support the NZ profile but we worked with both development projects to add support. For some technical details see the development blog at http://www.mythtv.co.nz/mythtv/?cat=7.

The data is in the DSM-CC section which on DTT is PID 1002, 1003 or 1004.

I've tested the MythTV MHEG-5 against DTT and it doesn't appear to have any issues.

Steve, thanks for the insightful response, going to see if I can work with the PLi team to get MHEG-5 support added into the Dreambox as well (not that there is a box with HD support it in at the moment, but that is supposed to come out end of this month or early next month).

Let me know if you need some help with the code, or a MHEG stream dump from rb-download.

I'm also intereted in seeing this being implemented even if it is just an application that reads the stream and does an xml dump. can be used with the long list of plugins for most players.

I would be interested in helping with looking into a solution.
