joker97: how much does one gain from having sky during the RWC period?

one gains a lot of red eyes and late into work since all the games are in the middle of the night

Well I won't be doing what I did last time and watching every match, but I forsee a lot of early nights, and very early mornings getting up at 5:45am so I can watch the AB's play before work etc.

backfiah: Got offered $39/month for a single premium channel (e.g. sport) + MySky + free install. Saves $10/month for those who don't want movies. Same phone number as the first page.

I think those deals are run by a 3rd party marketing company. Ringing the normal sky number won't get you the $39 or $49 deals. A quick Google search brought me to integrate.co.nz

A shame really. I bought sky at full price a couple years ago.

Just got the $58 deal ($49 deal (Sky basic, MySky+ Box, Sports and Soho) plus $9 HD package) so pretty happy - install date of the 12th of September, so just in time for the RWC.  Although I cancelled Sky back in June and used a legitimate overseas site (had the official rights in that region) to stream rugby etc, I'm happy to go back to Sky at this sort of money rather than the $106 a month they were previously charging me for just Sports, HD and Mysky+.  Also, my old box was starting to play up so now I get a brand new one.

Anyone thinking of calling and re-joining Sky through this tele-sales company, be aware that this deal doesn't require a 90 day stand down as some have mentioned, rather it is your 30 day notice period (and you can still watch Sky during that time) and then a 60 daystand-down period without Sky, unless you have someone with a different last name in the house whereby you can sign up as soon as your existing Sky contract has been cancelled.

Will be interesting to see what Sky does post-RWC, as I think this will be the point where cancellations will occur (if they ever will).  I'd expect them to start rushing out on-demand and on-line services like in the UK once RWC is over - e.g. the fabled box upgrade that has so far not occurred.  I'll re-consider again at the 6 moth point when the fixed term expires (six month fixed term with 12 month special price) and see what other options there might be in the market and if Sky is still a good deal I'll cancel just before the 12 month period, wait out the 2 months and then re-sign.

Did you ask if you can remove Sky movies and save $10/mth? I'm thinking I might do that. I don't have time to do movies!

I had to ring Sky today to checked when my 12 month contract up, and found it it was allready up and I had been put on an open contract. this suits me down to the ground. I was originally offered a deal with myski+ box, sports and movies for $48.00. I was alwasy wondering what deal they would offer me when the 12 months was up as I felt this was a reasonable price to pay. I cancelled my sky contract just over 12 months ago as it was getting too expensive. About $88.00 per month from memory for normal myski box with sports and HD ticket. I decided to upgrade to HD ticket again so total price is now $58.00 month. I am definetly better off than I was last time as a Sky customer, I dont mind paying, but, i dont have unlimited funds. I hope Sky people read these forums.

I am confused.  Are you saying that you will remain on the promotional (offered by telemarketers)  price going forward?  I was under the impression that people would have to pay the full price after the promotional period (12 months) ended.

Yes, I am staying on the promotional offer. Sky chose to put me on an open contract without changing anything.

This thread is making me furious.

I'm paying $92.51 for Basic+MySky+Sport (no HD ticket) almost double the telemarketer's prices. After RWC I'll cancel for 2 months and try re-sign with the better deal or ditch Sky altogether.

Have you gone over the 12 month period. The deal was for 12 months but only 6 months under contract. Is it possible you are only open until the 12 months are up, when the price will increase to normal amounts?

Sigh, I think you might be right. just been checking when I joined Sky. The Sky rep I spoke to this morning was right in that I went onto open contract from April, which when I checked back was 6 months from when I joined. My 12 months is up in October. I got excited a little too soon.
