I just looked in my TVHeadend. Damn, they finally did it! lol. They still haven't changed the audio from mpeg-2 though. Even ESPN HD is still on mpeg-2 audio. And they still haven't removed or changed the secondary audio feed from mpeg-2 for any of their HD channels too.

I also checked out the freeview channels, they are still on mpeg-2 video. (Apart from the Sky HD ones)

Not sure how you interpreted that comment to mean switching off the satellites. He means removing the SD channels that already have a duplicated HD counterpart in H.264. Maybe it's because some really really old non HD ready TV's still can't do 1080i..? But I doubt it, I have no idea. Nothing about Sky makes sense.

@Beniore. I presume you are using oscam? Do you find you have to refresh the card a lot more than before? Now I'm having to put the card back into the decoder every couple of months. I think Sky must have changed something.

About the quality for ESPN HD. Interestingly if you compared the quality with NBA.com, ESPN looks better at least when I compare them side by side. NBA.com is 720p as well, not sure what the bitrate is though.

@bobwinters nope, never goes back in the box.. its decoding the entitlement updates correctly, although my card is around 8 years old now so the newer cards do have some difficulty which the latest builds of OSCam have supposed to have fixed...

I get what he interpreted. The bottom line is, do you want content that is this and that, or do you want what you enjoy? Id rather have NatGeo/History/Food that I enjoy, than a boring channel that is 16k

which is pretty obvious to what "not switched them off yet" is referring to.

I was replying to the above statement, it didn’t come across that way.

Just say that he misinterpreted it as more then the SD equivalents, don’t understand rest of statements.

Ah ok, that my position. Do I want everything is 16k? Yep. And while its a pity that Sky broadcast channels in less than full HD, for me, I dont see a huge issue with that, I like the content first and foremost, then the res.

Why dont they seemed all channels in 1080p to more? I dunno, you probably know more than me. Im sure if they could at no extra cost, Im sure they would, why not?

Systems Update:

We are busy making changes to our systems, which means that customers will not be able to log in to My Account, use PPV and remote record via the website and mobile apps or access On Demand on the STB between Midnight - 10.00 am on 8th May. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

That's a lot of disruption for what is possibly, a large change. I also see a few other managers have left or been pushed out. I'm hoping this update is a big step to the full app and other changes. Annecdotally to me, I can see Bennett implementing changes then telling the public, to get the best impact, rather than, "this is coming next month"

Not really a lot of disruption, how many people are accessing those functions at those times. Compare this to the IRD who went completely dark for a week! Still can't reach someone on the phone for love nor money.

Comparatively its a lot of removed functionality, my point was its more than just a change or minor upgrade.

I called IRD Tuesday, no way to talk to a person. I called semi related departments until I got a callback option. That worked. Hopeless. Not everyone's query can be automated. But they sorted my issue out well though, so I'll give them that
