rugrat: It must be the whole customer base. There's only 672 hours in 4 weeks.

The promos Sky have the opposite effect on me, I watch less because it ruins the viewing experience.

How many of those hours watched are Sport v's general entertainment?

They have channel 0 and 28 for people to see what's on, plus they could do it at beginning and end of shows.
Yes Freeview does promo's during program, but Sky does it like they're on Steriods.

The last Neilsen stats I have for watching usage are from 2015.  I cant remember but I think its per person data:

Sky movies 74 minutes per month

Sky Sport  218 minutes per month

Other Sky channels 1,655 minutes per month.

I find those figures hard to believe. This means on average, a Sky Movie customer pays $20 per month to watch less than one movie per month. And a Sky Sport customer watches less than 2 rugby / league / other sport games per month. Do you have a citation?

I'm wondering if those figures are including the entire country, including non subscribers.
That would bring the average per person down, the numbers seem real low.

If I had Sky movies on I'd watch more then one movie.

I’m all for the new pricing, since I need to have Sport. Axed movies and Sky Entertainment, kept soho and HD, now paying $73 instead of $109.

Movies is a waste of money, and Entertainment isn’t entertaining.

Neisen only collect home viewing numbers, so that won't make any significant difference.

Yep. It's a great win for sports viewers.

Maybe that is Sky's target audience so the other stuff doesn't matter.

Nielsens TV Trends Reports (2013 onwards) all have channel share data (5+ all day).  Recent reports have moved to peak channel share rather than all day.  The reports also include hours watched for all households, sky households and non sky households.

You do the math.

For 2015 onwards you have to start to rely on NZOnAir reports etc.

Thats what I think. For general entertainment $49.91 is a hard ask, to get FTA, and Basic. Movies you go elsewhere, that leaves sport. They cant pull back prices to get everyone taking Basic, so its about getting the sports watchers that bailed, back. IMHO. SOHO is an effort to get sport watchers taking the Entertainment addon

If you want Sport and Soho, it’s cheaper to pay for Soho, than to get free Soho with Entertainment.

I could have sport and multi room (and therefore HD) for the same price as Entertainment, Basic and Sport. Crazy stuff.

I need some help here...

Mostly watch FTA channels, but also watch a bit of UKTV, Discovery, Animal Planet and Sport + BeIn

My options seem to be to stick with what I have, paying the same amount, or lose access to channels I generally watch a little of and save $20

Doesn't seem such a good deal to me.

Edit: Current package - MySky+, HD, Sport, Basic, BeIn

Yes, not a good deal, but you do get free Soho if that helps if you keep your current package

Hmm....I was hoping I'd missed something, but no - Soho doesn't really do it for me, so not really a bonus for me, I am afraid.

Ah well - status quo it is, then.

And here it is... Confirmation from SKY finally. I notice no changes on Vodafone's website though ...

"Sky Television has meanwhile confirmed that customers who have unlimited broadband with Vodafone will be able to buy its new Sky Starter entry-level service for $14.91 a month, carrying over a $10 discount that previously applied to Sky Basic. "
