FYI, email from Sky today.

We’re reaching out to let you know about an upcoming change to your Sky Entertainment package. From 31 March 2023 at 11.59pm, the National Geographic channel will no longer be available on Sky, including Channel 72, On Demand and Sky Go.

I enjoyed this channel!!

Saw this info on a Ozzy news group about 6  weeks ago.  Also saw somewhere recently that ESPN may go the same way as owned by WBD.

ESPN is owned by Disney.  Hence the ESPN+ subs are reported by Disney each quarter.

Yes you're correct.  My typo but could still  go the same way as Natgeo.

Possibly, but Sky would fight quite hard to keep it. If it did go that way Sky could look at going direct to NBA/NFL like Spark sport did.

in 2021 Sky signed a Multi year deal with Walt Disney Au/NZ for ESPN so I would say its safe for a few more years yet.

Disney+ streaming services

$14-99 per month

$149 per year

Extra costs after signing up for Sky, Netflix, Amazon and Disney+ around $100 per month, Sky the biggest cost!!

Looking at the recordings of TVNZ One news and the artifacts it would appear that it is not recorded at original bitrate.

I have found both 3Now and One news offerings to be at very low bitrate/pixellated, so I wouldn't expect taht to be any different on the new boxes, to be fair

I've been running the Pod for a couple of weeks without issue.  Tonight at about 10 oclockish it basically stopped working, you get the home screen, can select a program or streaming service but then you get an error message.  Luckily I still have a VTV box.

May just have been a internet glitch, I'd rather use satellite than internet streaming personally.

I hope everything comes right for you

I got the new Sky box today and it seems to be working ok so far.

The only issue I am having is sometimes having an audio delay.

I run my TV through my home theatre via ARC and I haven’t really had an issue before with the different things connected to my TV.

The problem I am having is sometimes there is an audio delay and to fix it I have to cycle through the different HDMI inputs and then it comes right. If I turn the home theatre off and run the sound through the TV there is no issue.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Any suggestions on how to fix?

My TV is a Panasonic JZ1000 and the home theatre is an older Panasonic Blu ray 5.1 home theatre system.

If by home theatre you mean an AVR, then on most receivers the audio delay for each channel can be adjusted in the settings.

The audio delay was inconsistent so I couldn’t change a setting plus it would make everything that works normally.

I ended up having to turn off surround sound on the Sky box and that has fixed the issue.

I will try turn it back on again after some updates but at least everything else on my TV can still have surround sound, just not the Sky box.

Can you reset the sound system?

Resetting things fix the issue but it comes back, especially if you change menus etc.

More annoying having to reset all the time than not having surround sound.

The only other option is to run sound through the TV speakers which is a worse option.
