Any update with regards to the getting hold of the week forward EPG data for the affected sky channels? I'm using a Duo2 box running Openvix but haven't been able to figure out a work around :(

I bought my parents the same box to watch sky with. I tried to figure out the epg format that one of those enigma2 plugins wanted, but I gave up. I imagine you could setup an external epg server and use epg collecter or tvheadend with some post processing. I would be keen to set it up with a mega.nz link. I just need some motivation.... Maybe I might do that this weekend.

If you do get something going please be sure to let us know 😀

If you run EPG Collector on a Windows box, and collect the OpenTV EPG from 12519, you do get a full week EPG.  When I first tried it after the changes, it only gave one day, but since then it seems to have gone back to a full week again.  Last time I compared the OpenTV data to the EIT data, I think the fields were a bit different - OpenTV did not give quite as much information.  But I have not checked since the changes.  I am working on getting EPG Collector to run with mono on Linux, but there are a few bugs to overcome, and I am not finding enough spare time at the moment to make fast progress.  My plan is to select only the affected channels out of the OpenTV data and merge them into my EIT EPG data before loading that into MythTV.  In the mean time, as there is now/next data, I am getting by on running the EIT collection every half hour.  That makes the existing recording rules work properly, but if I want to record something new I have to be there in the hour or half hour before it starts to create the new recording rule.

I believe TVHeadend can also collect OpenTV EPG, so if your box is running that, you should be able to change its settings to get that instead of EIT.  But it depends on your software - some software seems to think that the EPG data can only be collected from the same mux as the channel is broadcast on and does not see it if it is on a different mux (DVBViewer seems to be like that).  Since the OpenTV EPG is only broadcast on 12519, if your software is like that, even if it supports OpenTV you may need to do external collection from 12519 and feed that back into your software so it will see all the data for all the channels.

All sounds like a lot of effort considering how often I use the affected channels. Don't like the idea of having to purchase a DVB-S/2 tuner and further split my satellite feed before even starting to get my head around how to set it up software wise. Pity there seems to be no XML provider options.

I use MediaPortal on an HTPC and it supports importing EPG from XML via EPG Collector, so I've had to configure that and its working well.

Managed to get the OpenTV EPG download working from the 12519000 transponder within the CrossEPG plugin on Openvix (probably any enigma2 release). The Titles had a prefix in them (hexadecimal code within double square brackets) that I managed to filter out by adding some extra huffman codes in the .dict file.

Haven't thoroughly tested it yet but seems to give a full 7 day EPG for all channels, will keep testing & see how to goes.

Which version of Crossepg are you using? I've recently updated to an openpli 6 image, and it's no longer a supported plugin so I'll need to manually install it.

Haven't been able to fault it so can confirm crossEPG with custom config files is presently a workable solution for a complete 7 day EPG for those using Solo2 / Duo2 hardware running Openvix.

Are you able to post your configs? I've attempted to add my own by using the Italians config as a template and then using the SkyTV settings found in the TVHeadends source. But it's not working for me. It maybe because crossEPG has a weird way of entering it's polarization and FEC settings which I just tried to guess them. Or maybe it's because I'm running an older version of crossEPG, I think it was 0.8.3 and Blackhole. When I click 'OpenTV providers' an empty list appears. What's suppose to happen though?

@chillr, I have finally managed to get it working, but also have the [[00]] etc on each title, can you provide your dictionary or advise what changes need to be made to it?

It looks like Sky have noticed about the 1 week EIT EPG not being there on some channels - but what they have done is to turn it off on most channels, except for the ones that are part of Freeview (such as Prime).  I have only up until midday Wednesday for most channels now.  The now/next EIT EPG is still there.  So the only way to get proper EPG now is to use the OpenTV EPG from 12519.  I have not been able to get EPG Collector working under mono on Ubuntu so far - I am unable to compile it at the moment.  But I can use it from Windows and export the data to Ubuntu, so I may have to do that before Wednesday.  But I have found some more software that seems to grab OpenTV EPG from DVB-S and works on Linux: tv_grab_dvb_plus

https://tvgrabeit.sourceforge.io

Unfortunately, it only currently seems to handle Sky OpenTV data in the UK, IT and AU formats and the NZ data is a little different.  So I am looking at using the NZ configuration used by EPG Collector and porting it to tv_grab_dvb_plus so that I can get the Sky EPG on Ubuntu directly.  I should know whether this will work in the next couple of days.

So have Sky finished the cut over to H264 for most of their channels?

I got surveyed about a new digital box running off fibre which mentioned some 4k programmes.

Does anyone know more about this?

While the current satellite box is showing its age, I'll wait to see if there is actually any real 4k before jumping..
