Just phoned the telemarketers number, the recorded message said Sky deals no longer available.
ugh, that's a shame. Wonder if it will pop up again some time?

Hi, yep the text was legit and have renewed my subscription. Also since then I have received a follow up text that says I am welcome to “pass on to anyone you know that may like to join SKY on a great deal.” So, to the people I know...

I have now phoned Andy Purcell and arranged the deal that gives me starter, sports, MYSki box, and HD ticket for $58.99.
dukester:A few weeks ago when my mum signed up, they gave her that, plus the Entertainment package and Soho for about the same price.

Assuming the Android Puck launches next month, keen to see what deals Sky will do for this
My hope is we can buy the puck outright and its HD only

I'll be reasonably surprised if it's as early as Feb (perhaps late).
Channels like FoodTV etc aren't recorded in HD (they are low def even in the USA) so I don't see that changing. Interestingly my new Projector does a pretty slick job of upscaling those channels and they don't look TOO hideous.

This is a SKY offering, it will be a monthly rental (probably with minimum subscription period).

Right, how else would they cover the cost of content?

By letting people buy the pluck outright and only charging for content the months people want to watch it just as their competition does.
I guess some people are skeptical that it will be competitive, as they will probably try to recover sat costs
even though non decoder people don’t need a sat transmission.
Let's not pollute *this* thread with yet more whining about Sky, PLEASE? There are 11ty Billion threads you can do that already.

Just answering your question, didn’t have to be asked.
See what they charge when it comes out, only know for sure then.
Agreed, I misunderstood Dafmans comment. Presumably however, it will be a subscription which will cover the support and warranty costs, just as it does now for the Sky Box.
