Just done a live pause for a few minutes, how do I cancel it?

Normally you unpause it by fast forwarding to now during the ads.

On the old remote there was a Stop button to press if you wanted to cancel it, now you can only FF to the end to cancel, things seem to take longer to do on the new box.

siva992: Has anyone given up on the new Sky box? Cuz I'm this close 🤏 to returning it and I don't mind giving up my credit I received for trial and being on the commercial.

Done. Returned it and got them to reactivate the good old Sky box with MySky. No questions were asked. Kinda tells me they are aware about everything.

I am a loooong time Sky user. New box, great. It will have existing features and "it just works" plus new features, great. But this thread has blown my mind. New devices, new software, new OS. will always have teething issues. But this has been horrendous IMHO. Pity.

It does make me wonder, what was wrong with the old Sky Box?

Granted, but there are some major updates that will be out over the next coupe of months.

I would like to see some sort of controlled Sky forum where users can continue testing, just because it works fine for someone doesn't mean other users should accept the features and performance issues

I wrote this once, never released it, but here it is:

"I'm now regretting the hype I've reserved for the new Skybox because it feels like I'm fixing a problem when it's actually not broken. I once called out the old Skybox as a boring piece of device that's not providing me with any form of modernisation and interactivity. But after the new Skybox, I feel like the old one was doing what it knows best and it was just fine. Add an Nvidia shield or any kind of Android TV box to your existing setup and you've got yourself a complete entertainment solution of both traditional and streaming media. Which made me thought, combining two of these devices into one would seem like a convenience, but it wasn't worth it."

Fair enough, but in my opinion, this has gone well past teething issues. IMHO it has gone backward. No doubt the issues will be resolved in time. But given I'm probably labelled as a Sky fan (has the content I want, easy to use, it just works) I'm not holding my breath.

That was the plan. I'm a trial customer. We were told NOT to be highly critical about the box as it was in its testing stage. But during the whole testing stage, there were no channels open to share our feedback, suggestions and experience. Four months in and you'd think there'll be something like that but no, all I got was a survey page asking me "how likely am I to recommend Sky to friends and family after using the new Sky box." Obviously, you know my response to that by now. I have even stopped inviting friends and family over to see the new Sky box because they've seen my appearance in the commercial, and even after the updates, it was just poop. As of yesterday afternoon, no one was impressed with it at all.

100%. My MySkyHDi is apparently 1980's tech due to noteworthy Sky bashers here.I could not care less what the delivery mechanism is, as long as the content suits me. it works, and I can easily record, series record, pause, stop and play. Analogy, you love this song or music station, who cares who does what if it plays that song or music station? Granted, be good to add streaming capability, but Id wager all 1980's Sky users already have streaming via another pathway, in my case, ATV4

I am only on Skypod because Vodafone TV shut down and access to Sky channels are needed (no need to record). The significant other half- major TV watcher - is very unhappy that the ease of the VTV EPG is gone and the remote makes everything harder to navigate.

Mind you we are lucky that Vodafone TV was not allowed to merge with Sky back in the past as the competition between the two has delivered a really great outcome for consumers.

I’m pretty sure these boxes as a base are actually pretty decent. Kaon Media make them and have been for a several years with Android TV. It’s a natural progression from the previous versions.
http://www.kaonmedia.com/eng/solutions/android.asp

The issue is the Sky Launcher and UX - which I assume is developed and customised in NZ and that job has been terrible.
The base is effectively a Chromecast with Google TV running Android TV along with 2 key apps.

Once being Sky STB which is the launcher and provides the core of the UX. Bugs and slow performance!

The other is AppWatch which provides control, content security and Qos.

Must be hard to make the call on how much to customise!

Sky should setup a forum where they can gain feedback from users - power or not which will help focus their development efforts. The whole approach around testing, release etc. seems so archaic. We’re not in 2005 and I think that’s the main problem with Sky - living in the past, playing catch up, too much bureaucracy!

As someone else mentioned in this thread - they should of done what Foxtel did in AU. The feedback of those boxes have been outstanding!

Change is always hard - and I don’t mind change, will push through, but could be so much easier!

Also who is experience the UI lock up? Three instances this evening where cannot change channels because it’s locked up. Have to wait ~ 30-40 seconds for things to catch up. Not doing anything special - simply changing channels.

This is seriously annoying as there is no workaround - apart from rebooting.

Rebooting does make it better but seems running for a while does do this so could be a small memory leak somewhere. Sigh.

It could be the remote is not responding not necessarily a system freeze!! I think you can navigate from the button on the box, try that next time and see.

A fault that occurs regularly is that if you don't click the 9 and 3 buttons or 12 or 6 buttons exactly you get booted back to the Sky home page even if you are in an app. My finger or thumb regularly hit 4 position and bang- back to home screen so much so that I have to hold the remote with 2 hands ( maybe my age)

How about you all list your issues in this forum regarding the New Sky Box (NO POD) with the following Problems and how to reproduce, if you can not reproduce it after a few attempts, just put "random"

I will send a list to Sky Network TV on Friday 19 May

This forum has many intelligent people floating around it!!

My new Sky Box randomly restarts at least once per evening when watching replays. It didn't do that for the first few weeks.

It's a new feature!
