turneg01: Called Sky up to see if i could get a good package, they said sky sports free for 2 months so i did some searching...

Called the number

Just signed up $49.22

12 months basic, sky sports and sky movies and the mysky+

Thanks heaps Kharris

I did this today too. She also chucked in the Sky Watch magazine FOC. Only thing I forgot to ask about was the HD ticket. I've had Sky several times and recall the last installer saying don't bother with the HD ticket (I got it anyway back then). Can anyone confirm if you NEED the HD ticket? Surely the ABs games won't be in standard definition?

Hmm I just queried my hd ticket. It says it bumps sports and movies from 1080i to 1080p. Should I remove hd ticket? Surely i and p won't make much difference to me?

My experience is that the HD ticket makes a massive difference for sport.

I don't know about movies - don't waste my money with them.

You don't NEED the HD ticket, but if you don't have it your Sky channels (e.g. Sky Sports) will only be the SD version. I got the flyer in the letterbox (basic + two free premium packages), and was thinking about taking up the offer. When I read I could get the My Sky HD+ and HD access ticket for an extra $9.95, I signed up. Thank you Geekzone.

If Sky don't match this offer in 12 months time, then I'll only be a subscriber for 12 months. Looking forward to my HD NRL.

Definitely SD for the SKY channels. As mentioned previously on this thread, you can activate and deactivate the HD ticket on a monthly basis. I'll turn it on for the RWC but other than that, I'm not enough of a sport watcher to care.

That's rubbish. No HD ticket = standard definition, HD ticket = 1080i. Sky does not broadcast 1080p.

Even with this deal, if you're not paying $9.95 for the HD access ticket, you won't be getting any Sky channels in HD regardless of the type of decoder you have.

Nope - but you can ring and have it added for $10 month.

kharris: You could try ringing 0800 4 SKY TV (0800 475 988)

This is their telemarketers, not their regular consumer line, so they provide much better deals than sky can.

This is for new customers only.

My deal was a couple of months ago but I got:
$48 a month deal:
- Sky Basic
- Mysky+
- Sky Movies
- Sky Sport
It is for 1 year service.  The contract is for 6 months so you can change services after that time or cancel with no early termination fee.

I also added the HD ticket for $10 - so $58 all up.  Still a great deal.

Still going. I just got this for my parents. Lady on the phone said tell your friends, so don't sound like it's coming to an end soon.
