Not nesscerialy all fixed by 18th June but around that date new features will be implemnted, well old new features!! like remote record and some other stuff

Sorry, "new features will be implemnted"  or do you mean basic functionality like the old box will be fixed? Im a Sky user from way back, the content, the delivery mechanism works for me, and many others. The bare minimum is what we had , we still have, plus all these new features. The former and the latter have failed. Sky needs to man up and say, we failed. There is a lot of human value from screwing up and admitting it, that garners respect. That would make the news, but no.

My Bad, extract the "new"

OMG today I got a Sky Rewards email, typically i can get a free stint on Sky Movies, but my reward is $50 off the new Sky Box. Well I already had an email about that so why is this a Sky Reward?

Ive had Sky since Nacsar was moved from Sky 1 to Sky 2 which I then had to subscribe to. We moved houses in 2017 so Sky was cancelled for 3 months so I guess my past history was deleted? Yes, I get that, had the new Sky box been good, id have pushed that

In here somewhere

New Sky Box FAQs

In there is this:

”Also if your box updates automatically while in Standby mode, this can impact future recordings until you wake the box up. Because of this, we recommend you update your box as soon as you see a notification to do so.”

Might be the reason a lot of stuff is not being recorded?

Also updates split recordings in progress, May have been mentioned in thread.

I’ve told my Auntie to hold off, has a MySky. From a Sky online chat, she wasn’t sure if ordered or not. Hopefully not for now.

I still can not turn off standby, the old boxes never had standby so go figure.

Doubt it - I’ve been tracking the updates closely and posting them here.
No new versions of the launcher nor the platform in the last couple of weeks.

Some mornings when I turn on the TV, Sky is active but some times I get No Signal and the box has gone into standby, I don't know why it is random.

This standby mode is causing me all sorts of headaces, get rid of it Sky

Apparently if you plug a USB charging device into the USB port on the back of the box, maybe a mobile phone it will not go into standby, needs development mode enabled.

The new skybox really seems like a super backward step - my major issues are for the tennis.  I have incomplete recordings that just cutoff - they seem to have the same length of time recorded for multiple channels ie; tennis on two pop up channels will record for exactly 11 hours and 21 minutes on both channels when in reality it is longer and they are just cutoff.  Is there anyway to use user defined time settings to skip forward like on the old box?  11 hours of recording I would like to skip an hour or two without waiting for the fast forward (which also freezes the picture on screen).  Also is there anyway to to switch between the previous and current channel like there was before with the back circle arrow button?  Don’t even get me started on the crappy onscreen tv guide…….. and the lag in changing channels…..

I think a really good idea to contact Fair Go but don't feel I'm competent to be a spokesperson.

Google standby and Chromecast with Google TV. Lots of similar issues so I do wonder if it’s an OS level issue where sometimes these go into standby and it’s a mission to get them out of standby. I have multiple of these and one is working fine and the other has this issue.
Wondering if the Sky box is suffering from the same issue given it’s running the same Android TV just with a different launcher/skin.

trust me if there was i would have found it , it is one of the more annoying things that has been removed from the new box and it drives me nuts.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

This works for me by just pressing the back arrow.. still laggy but goes to the previously viewed channel from the current one.

The problem is that the majority of Sky's customers don't know they are having problems and they think it's something they did wrong and don't report it or complain.

All us moaners are just a minority few, and in Sky's eyes have nothing better to do than pick out every flaw in their wonderful shiney new devices that is too late for them to back track on!!

Not sure I agree. "the majority of Sky's customers don't know they are having problems and they think it's something they did wrong" NO WAY. They know what they do and the reliability they have always had. Get a new box and all the issues appear? No

"All us moaners are just a minority few, and in Sky's eyes have nothing better to do than pick out every flaw" Just because GZ moaners see these issues doesnt mean it works great for everyone else. Plain and simple, it was never tested then beta tested.

Moaners here on geekzone are definetly not alone! Check out the comments on the facebook ads! and the woeful autogenerated responses from Sky. I am now happy that Sky only offered me $50 off after 18 years of service. Otherwise I would have "upograded" to the new box.

It is the simple features that are lost that would annoy me. Not being able to watch a recording until the program is finished. Not being able to look through the guide etc while keeping the current progarm running in the smaller window. No remote record (coming soon...). No alternative commentary. etc.

So thank you early adopters / beta testers. Saved me adding to the swear jar!

does anyone know is there anyway to change the commentary feed that you could do on the old box by pressing the yellow button or is this is something else that has vanished on the new box and i am now stuck listening to the god awful NZ sky team on the league games.

It’s not available at the moment - read somewhere that it’s coming or work in progress!

That's going to be difficult as they're removed the coloured buttos from the new remote. :(

It grates my gears that the "Press yellow button to get alternate commentary" prompt comes up on screen from time to time, when there isn't a yellow button to press on the new remotes.

I think the rugby alternate commentary stream is carried on Sky Sport 8 or 9 or something now

@pristle - so just to be clear, when you use your Samsung remote, the new Skybox is responding to Samsung remote key-presses? Which ones are working? Numeric pad? Cursor? Guide?

I wish I could tell you, but I'm one who sent his SkyPod back and got a refund. Whilst I had it, like with VTV, I never touched the Samsung remote.
