A while back (I can't find it now) someone suggested separate threads for the two Sky devices might be helpful. Most of the comments on this thread seem to be about the "new skybox" rather than the SkyPod. As a replacement for the VTV decoder we find the SkyPod to be OK - a bit quirky in places, but overall better than the VTV box. Other people I've talked to feel the same.

People reading this thread will surely be put off the SkyPod, which I think may be a touch misleading.

I'm one of those who migrated from the less than perfect VTV device to an even lower than expectation SkyPod. From all accounts across various platforms echo the sentiments detailed here regardless of box or pod.

I'm also one of those who sent their Pod back. I know 2 mates who are doing the same with their boxes, praying that they'll get mySky units sent out.

I don't find the Skypod better than VTV. I had an Android box as well so I could run all the Android apps e.g Netflix, Prime etc when I wanted them.

The VTV box just worked better let alone it seemed there were much more programmes that were available on demand ( rather than having to watch as scheduled) than are on Sky channels.

Obviously different agreements with content makers were made.

The only reason I have the Skypod is other members of the household want to watch Sky channels and we don't want an aerial.

Given i only have Sky still because of Sport im tempted to cancel at the end of the Super Rugby Season, I wonder if there is any value in complaining to the rights providers eg NZRU or otherwise as its their content being provided in such a poor environment.
Surely Sky TV has SLA's for delivering the content to consumers

New SkyBox annoyance no. 1

Rubberband rewind.

1) missed some dialog or action

2) rewind a bit to watch again

3) hit play

Expected: play

Actual: fast forwards past where I started then resumes playing having skipped the section I was trying to rewatch

New SkyBox annoyance no. 2

Series management

Say I have a series link recording with 10 episodes

1) select series from planner

2) episodes shown from newest

3) scroll down 10 episodes

4) watch episode

5) hit back, sitting on episode just watched, which I want to delete now

6) scroll up 10 episodes to get onto top commands and select Delete

7) scroll down 10 episodes to get to episode just watched

8) delete episode

New SkyBox annoyance no. 3

Overly loose series link matching

Select series to watch

Expected: that series recorded, on that channel

Actual: any series of that name is recorded, including across TV1 and TV1+1

Thankfully this does not affect all programs.

New SkyBox annoyance no. 4

Short recordings.

View recorded episode

Expected: recorded from before start to after end

Actual: some series are missing lots off end

A particular offender is Great British Bakeoff. The coverage switches to lotto and returns, and the recording ends about 10 minutes short of the end of the episode.

Do you mean there is no "press yellow button" to delete? How dumb is that...

The more I read about this new box, the more I feel likely to stick with the MySky box. Thank goodness for this thread on GZ!

Hopefully many of the problems can be and will be improved or fixed. Hopefully. Stay tuned...

Ah ha! Use the scroll wheel to go Right and it jumps to the "Delete Recordings" button. Select "Delete Recordings" and jumps back to the episode that was selected so it can be deleted. Two of the three long scrolls avoided!

That would seem an odd decision given you have Rugby Championship, Bledisloe and the RWC this year.

This one is not Sky's fault - it is just how the EPG data works.  In the EPG data, the first and second parts of the programme, and the intervening Lotto programme, are all separate programmes and you need to set the box to record both parts separately.  The first part will likely have the title as "Great British Bakeoff" and the second part "Great British Bakeoff continued" (or something similar).
