I've been looking at replacements and something struck me as odd [keep comments to yourselves undecided] ... many new ones now have what looks and feels like bare metal interiors, so how does this work considering one is warned against putting metal objects in the microwave when operating??

Cam modern microwaves now handle metal, i:e teaspoons, enamel pie dishes ?

Microwaves have always had metal walls on the "cooking box" (its how they kept the waves in)

It was just that in the past they painted the inside of the metal, now they can get away with leaving it unpainted.... ( likely some version of stainless)

There will be a section in front of the magnetron that is waxed cardboard or plastic, to let the waves in....

Sticking a metal objects in it is still likely to result in the same sparky light show as before,
