I think I know the answer but keen to get confirmation of the law that says so.

 

Basically the neighbour - without asking - is using the fence as a clothes line to dry their rug. So half of the rug is hanging over our fence.

Seems utterly trivial IMHO and the fact that you are immediately requesting advice on the letter of the law to deal with it - rather than just talking to them first - would strongly suggest that your "Neighbourly" credentials could also do with a polish...

Update - spoke to the neighbour. Very reasonable and friendly chap. 

 

You never know how a neighbour is going to react and hence my post / question.
